Hello <<First Name>>
and welcome to the

Better-late-than-never edition of

You will have no doubt heard, tomorrow's Walton Small Boats Head is cancelled due to increasingly strong stream and the limits this puts on safe course laying, safe boating, safe racing, safe anything!

If we must look forward to EA and Club 'Red boards' but rather than following the now-annoyingly-regular erg timetable, we invite the following squads to make up...

Teams of up to 8 people FROM 08:00 to do a Run (2.5k) - Row/Erg (5k) - Run (2.5k) or for those with bike+helmet a Row/Erg (5k) - Bike (10k):

WJ15 training is at 10:00

FROM 12:00 NOON, we go again for ALL W/J13-14
Plus, any J15+ unable to make it for 08:00

It will be muddy along the towpath: be sure to wear proper cross-training or trail running shoes.

Any last-minute updates will be posted also @WeybridgeRC

Weybridge Winter Head #WWH2020

Racing or not... New member or not... Parent or not... you have until December 21st to sign up to help out for January 18th’s Weybridge Winter Head. And after the 21st? We start pestering when we should instead be planning and eating Christmas Pudding!

For those who are already signed up - many thanks - here’s a reminder that you have!

Speaking of Christmas Pudding...

Each year for the last many years we have run our Christmas Pudding Races just before Christmas. This year it's on Saturday 21st December.

Simply SIGN UP AT
- or say even if you can't come - one form per person helps.

We use fine coxed quads and run the event from the Weybridge Ladies steps to the Club, subject to river/weirpool conditions.

Crews are carefully planned to ensure a mix of all types of members in the boats - experienced and new, young and young-at-heart, men and women. The event normally starts about 10:00 (meet earlier for briefing) and finishes by 13:00.

There is no charge for entering but we hope members and family will avail themselves of Suzanne's Splendiferous Festive Feast up in the clubroom which helps pay for the ten Christmas puddings awarded to the winners.

This is a purely fun event, so do come along and be part of it - all welcome!

The all-new, all-still-feeling-festive

A tad different from the 'Rum Row' of the US Prohibition Era but as a way of ushering in the New Year, Pete H and I invite you for a Row & Rum (in that order!) at the Club for around 11:00 - just think…

An on-the-water treasure hunt in 'scratch' quads/fours, coxed or coxless

Rum tasting and a taste of history

A spot of brunch

…followed by a nap, perhaps!

To help us gauge for how many to cater,
please sign up HERE (
from today and no later than December 29th
- many thanks

Open to all rowers including Weyfarers who are 18 years of age or older!

They've Arrived - They've Arrived!

With thanks to Clive Cu and Tom at 'Oar Inspired' and for the benefit of having remote-coaching under the Faster Masters Rowing training program, we now have delivered those specialist camera mounts: 3 for small boats and 3 for big boats.

So now, rather crucially, if you have an action-camera (GoPro and the like) sitting in a drawer not doing much, it is time to charge it up (the spare battery too!) to take it for an outing, or two... hundred! If nothing else this weekend, we can at least have a go at setting up the tripod and camera - to see how quick and easy it can be.

Select footage is then submitted to Rebecca and Marlene at FMR for their review and feedback. We will, of course, need to keep the camera mounts locked away when not in use and cameras taken away for recharging and repeat outings.

These camera mounts can be used also for the benefit of coaching coxes and junior crews, capturing that 'extra' angle like no other.

From 200 Club Chairman "Greg" & Secretary Gus:

Just a quick note of thanks for all of the support that many of you gave the 200 Club Charity Raffle last Sunday. In donating bottles and purchasing raffle tickets you helped us raise £505, which means that we can make a significant contribution to a Charity which is helping the homeless over Christmas. This year’s chosen Charity is the Salvation Army who seem to do an excellent job in welcoming those less fortunate than us into centres, not just at Christmas but throughout the year, so once again many thanks.
