The Just-in-time-for-the-weekend Edition of

Hello <<First Name>>

The weekend lineup is below but first...

Having a ball! You may have noticed these bright yellow things cupped over the gates of many of our boats. This is done to protect the hulls from rigger 'dings' from the boat above, which happens when taking them out or putting back, sometimes no matter how carefully handled. This should prove one less job to do in boat maintenance - please help with this by not losing or not using these balls. When you go out, simply loop the tennis ball on to the rack using the string attached...

With thanks to Cath, this was done along with repairing hull dings (including but not only to newly refurbed, Other Wey Up!); thanks to Geoff T, too, for providing some of the tennis balls...

Special thanks also goes to Rachel for quietly taking on the ghastly job of clearing out the putrified meat, which hadn’t found a home in enough stomachs, so ended up sat in an icebox on the balcony.

My thanks does not end there... Thanks to Eric for fixing the lock to the Ladies; to Ollie and Anne for helping Rachel with Learn To Row sessions; to Tom M, Anne and Matt A for helping with school sessions; Nick also as always!

Also thanks to Graham CaNick and Geoff T for taking on the job of repairing JK's Wey after her 'altercation' with the pontoon - more on this below...

Finally, the fish shall have their pass but...

PLEASE BE EXTRA AWARE AND TAKE EXTRA CARE now the works barge is in position, adding an extra hazard, especially for crews leaving and landing -
so this is for everyone!

Case in point: JK's Wey - pictured below after its 'altercation' with the wooden ledge off our pontoon. There is an easterly wind forecast in to next week that is making things quite hazardous. Be advised not to boat with the stern any farther upstream than the flagpole; similarly, aim no farther upstream than said flagpole when inbound, preferably stopping on the far side and having a good look before crossing.
Teaching granny perhaps, but still...

Please take extra care - thank you - and thanks to our WSA Graham Ca for the regular updates on the fish pass construction and how we can safely manoeuvre.

WEY To Help Out

To quote our Club President:
"Ask not what your club can do for you, ask what you can do for your club."

Check out the 'jobs board'
for ways to help around the Club
The best kind of party is a boathouse work-party, right?! Watch this space for a date soon but for now keeping things tidy as we go makes the job of cleaning that much easier. This means putting away all blades properly - each has a home - and hi-viz bibs and towels, those need hanging to dry. Also, take away your plastic bottles - the disposable ones in the bin provided - and the reusable ones? Claim your’s and take it home after every outing. Plastic bottles just don’t put themselves away! The same with hi-viz bibs and blades; oftentimes seen left on the bank after an outing. If you take it out, please do your bit and put it back - thanks!
