Dear <<First Name>>,
The Desborough Dashes Regatta
As you will remember from last week's thrilling instalment of By The Wey the Captains of WEY and WLT are working on a covid-secure regatta event for Saturday 22nd May 2021. When I say "the Captains" I mean the Captains (or at least this one) are delegating furiously to those that actually know what they are doing.
Anyway, things are progressing well with a huge amount of enthusiasm including from the local council and British Rowing. We have a work plan, a committee, umpires and officials, and at this time, a pretty good general outline of how the day will run, with details being crystallised every day.
I am working on a list of jobs for which we will need volunteers from both clubs, so please keep the date - Saturday 22nd May 2021 - in your diaries and when we have a firmer idea of what we need I'll be in touch. Thank you.
Talking of help
Kay is appealing for help coaching the Saturday 10:00 novice group. If you know more than they do - please offer to assist for a couple of hours. It's very satisfying to know that you have helped people and much appreciated by Kay and her small team.
Also assistance required please for adult learn-to-rows during the week - these are coming thick and fast.
The barge arrived, scratched it's head, had a cuppa and left...
...having piled around the channel and pulled out a few trees stumps - not sure why it left but I think it'll be back sometime next week.
Theresa and I are away from Saturday 24th until about 4th May so I will leave you in the capable hands of my Vice Captains, Rachel, Clive (Curd - the clever one) and Kostas (who should by then have emerged from isolation).
Continuing - Hands, Face, Space. Disinfect blades and boats.
