The Better-late-than-never edition of

Hello <<First Name>>, the weekend lineup is below but first...

#BladesofRemembrance   #ThankYou100

British Rowing is encouraging rowing clubs across the country to join the Thames Region in marking the moment of silence at 11am on Sunday, 11 November by standing in front of their clubs and displaying club blades as a mark of respect for club members who have lost their lives to war and to say Thank You to all those who have served, sacrificed and changed the world.

Wherever we are at 11am this Sunday, let us - both WEY and WEF - stop to observe a minute's silence and share our Blades of Remembrance with the wider rowing community, using the hashtags #BladesofRemembrance #ThankYou100.

A message from the Chairman of the 200 Club

200 Club December Draw and Charity Raffle

As you are probably aware the 200 Club holds a quarterly draw and the final draw for this year will take place on SUNDAY 9th DECEMBER  beginning 12 noon with  complimentary wine and nibbles and the draw-proper at 1pm, and I should like to take this early opportunity to invite you to attend. Obviously this is not pure altruism on my part since at this draw we intend also to run a charity raffle to help the homeless at Christmas.

For the past five years, at the 200 Club December Draw,  we have organised a charity bottle raffle, the proceeds of which have been shared between the 200 Club and a charity that supports the homeless at Christmas; this year that charity may be  Rentstart, the chosen charity of the current Mayor of Elmbridge. Rentstart assists the homeless in the Borough and last year helped around 130 desperate people without homes or who, of necessity, were sleeping rough in our area. We, at Weybridge Rowing Club, are extremely fortunate. We may sometimes complain about the cost of living, rowing club subscriptions, the need for yet another item of racing kit, but this in no way compares to the unfortunate individual who has to wonder how he or she will pay for a next meal or find a bed for the night.

In the past, WEY members and parents of our junior members have been very generous in donating bottles for the raffle, and then purchasing raffle tickets, and that has enabled us to give several hundred pounds to the chosen charity, and I do hope that, this year, you will be similarly supportive. There is a box in the clubroom in which you may leave your donation, so please look in the back of that cupboard and extract the bottle of wine you brought back from last year's holiday, but have not since touched; find the bottle of gin that aunty Mary gave you for your birthday ignoring the fact that you hate gin! Or, put an extra bottle in your weekly shop and give it to the raffle: it does not have to be Château d'Yquem, albeit this may be the tipple of some members.

The December 200 Club Draw and Raffle has, traditionally, proven a very popular social occasion, so please enter the date in your diary now and do join us. You do not have to be a 200 Club member to come along on this occasion, just be there to meet and chat with members from all sectors of the Club: active, social, parents of juniors, and other friends, and support this very worthwhile initiative.

Best wishes
"Greg" Gregory-Jones - Chairman, 200 Club
Gus Cowie - Secretary, 200 Club

Mobility is vital to rowing performance. Mobility is how you sit up straight during the recovery, have strong and efficient leg drive at the catch, and avoid slumping at the finish to squeeze out the last bit of stroke power. Mobility allows you to display your full strength potential in a highly demanding athletic movement - the stroke.

Check out the "Mobility for Rowers" article and video series from Will Ruth of Rowing Stronger, broken into the four areas of the body where most rowers struggle:
