Possunt qui posse videntur

Dear <<First Name>>,

As you will know England is now in our third lockdown in an effort to reduce COVID infection rates. As such I regrettably have to officially advise that the Club is now closed. The latest indication of a review is sometime around the middle of February but I'm not assuming that we will be able to reopen at that time.

Club ergos have now been allocated to those who requested one, per Anne's email of 28th December. If you have an ergo (of any sort) why not join in the WEY Ergo Challenge to see who can cover the most distance over lockdown, starting tomorrow and finishing... well, who knows? Just log your workout at bit.ly/WEYErgoChallenge... The prize? Probably an out-of-date can of cola from the Club's bar but that's not the point!

Personal exercise is permitted but because the club is required by the regulations to close we cannot permit boating from the premises.

During lockdown our junior section head coach Matt will be running a circuits session on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm over Google Meet. The link for this is meet.google.com/dbg-rrex-vcj - please do join him. It's open to members of all ages, and your families, and is a mix of activity, Pilates and stretching. One of the great benefits of doing this online is that you can 'mute' your sound and camera so no one can see you huffing and puffing, or stopping for a rest (I speak from experience!).

Kay is also doing a pure Pilates session on Wednesday evenings for 45 minutes from 7:30pm - her link is bit.ly/WEY-Do-Pilates but sometimes it works better as meet.google.com/XFM-EMRB-PXI

Those with Strava are invited to join the Weybridge Rowing Club group and log walks, runs and rides.

If you have an ergo with a PM5 monitor you can join Ergworld (ergworld.com). This is a site developed by young GB rowers (including ex-WEY member Mat Tarrant) that enables rowers from anywhere in the world to compete against or with anyone else. Our J16s row with friends in Greece, for example. You need to set up a very simple (free) account. You can row in the 'open space' called 'World' or create a special closed group. It takes a bit of coordination and planning but works well; you'll get the hang of it when you try it!

I am sorry that once again I have had to write with negative news... it's not my fault, honest... and I send my best wishes to all members.
