This Saturday, Amateur Rowing will be showcasing...

Crews coming from 34 different clubs, representing towns, universities, schools and colleges from Shanklin on the Isle of Wight to the south, to Lea RC in east London to Radley College in Oxfordshire.

A total of 913 rowers and scullers, plus 80 coxes will compete in 57 events, over 218 separate races from 8:15 in the morning to the last race at 6:30 in the evening.

Age ranges from 13 to 71 with over 75% of races set aside for 13-18 years old.

Rowing is a sport which is truly gender-equal with this year's regatta seeing a balance of 50% male and 50% female participants.
This week, many thanks are owed to...
Nick Coxhead for giving the engines on two of our coaching launches and the engine on a regatta workboat a good service; Cath Allaway for giving Another Wey some TLC to her damaged hull, race-ready for Saturday; also for neatly rolling boat ties, folding towels and washing bibs; to Eric Wilson for installing a new shower curtain in the Ladies; Dave Cox for strimming whilst Graham Campbell and Tom Meade have been doing pre-regatta prep, ensuring launches and buoys are where they are needed for the weekend; also thanks to Tom for his ongoing help with schools' sessions, as well as all our volunteer coaches who help bring on juniors and our newer senior members, such that Sandra Gates and Emma Doyle did just Sunday gone...

...and whilst this Sunday is the last session in this recent series of extra sessions for beginners, we, thanks to Rachel Kornberg and Cath Allaway, continue with Wednesday evening sessions - please do signup (this helps with session planning) and to those who can make it for 6:30pm to coach or 'buddy', please do, as has Dale Gowland, thank-you! And to anyone who wishes, don't miss the chance for developing your skills in a single -

As part of British Rowing drive for clubs to join 'Clean Sport Week', we hosted a workshop on Tuesday, which was well-attended and well-received by our J16s, a few parents, coaches and senior members.

Post-workshop materials are available here

Coming soon: keep an eye out for webinars on the topic

Louis Braille School Learn To Row

The Louis Braille School return to Weybridge after a great time in 2016. Then as in a month's time, the group are making this visit to learn to row with WEF, on:
Friday 08-Jul, 12:15 to 13:45 (lunch only); then water sessions: Mon 11-Jul, 12:30 to 16:00; Tue 12-Jul, 09:30 to 14:00; and Wed 13-Jul, 09:30 to 16:00.

Any help you can give to keep paths/steps, etc. clear of 'obstacles' would be most helpful. The students have varying levels of sight; of course those who require it will be guided around the site at all times.
