There is a long-standing tradition at Weybridge for enjoying a (fairly short) Christmas morning row followed by rum punch, with the rum kindly donated by former Weybridge member Michael Swain, who now lives in Bermuda. Beware, it isn’t like any rum you may have drunk before!

The outing is a combined Weybridge/Weyfarers row in whatever boats people feel like using – last year we had an octuple and a couple of touring quads.

Meet at the Club for 10am
If you raced Pairs Head, Upper Thames Head, Vet Fours Head, Teddington or Walton SBH, please check here for what you owe the Club in race fees - there are still a few outstanding.

Our Club President, Caroline Turnbull is organising a Capsize & Recovery Drill on
Sunday 14th January at Cranmore School, West Horsley, starting at 2 p.m.
If you haven’t done capsized before, it’s a very useful exercise even if you think you won’t ever want to go out in a single scull. (The capsize drill is also a requirement for your Certificate of Watermanship). It’s actually a fun thing to do, and takes place in a nice, warm pool.

We will also check your swimming ability – you need to be able to swim 4 lengths of the pool in light clothing, e.g. leggings/shorts and a T-shirt. You don’t have to do it quickly, but we need to know that you can survive if you fall in!

Finally, we will teach you to throw a throw-line so you can rescue someone in the river.

We can accommodate just 20 people per session and with it being open to Weyfarers and Weybridge members, you will need to be quick to
signup by e-mailing Caroline
