Looking ahead to the Head season

With a questionnaire here and a squad meeting there... Just in time to kickstart the new training and club year, 2019/20.

This year's ALL Seniors & Masters squad meeting on Saturday, September 7th will be a little different. Rather than having a fixed time that only a handful can make, I will be on-hand as-and-when you wish to join me, between 09:00 and 12 noon to catchup in-person and talk through the various aspects of the season to come - venue to be confirmed.

So whether you are fairly new to WEY or have been rowing for decades, let's take stock of the season (and year) that was and start to cement those brewing plans for the coming Head season and a bit beyond - including some of the usual and anything you wish to bring to the (breakfast!) table, from our training program and coaching to crew formations and race events.

Have you say: I look forward to the 7th.
And the next day... Sunday, September 8th, 08:00 (possibly 2 x Silver Sculls*) will be the first in a refreshed series of fortnightly(-ish) Time Trials. Typically the first and third Sunday of the month, we will need to juggle things a bit in September with singles/small boats on the 8th and the following week (15th) in other 'crew boats' - whether this be your Pairs Head, our own Silver Sculls, V4H, UTAH, or even Walton SBH crew. More info on these and other events at the All-squads meeting.

All time trials are excellent race simulation with time trialling in singles being especially good for setting your own baseline, working on individual technique pointers and
having a CoW!

Also another chance to have a CoW: we are arranging with WLT an inter-club 1k regatta for our 'novice' rowers, on the Walton Reach. This will likely fall on the weekend of the 28/29th September - details to follow but for now let us know your availability for that weekend in the usual place - thanks.

*Silver Sculls is 3k upstream (u/s). WLT plan to do 2 x Walton SBH, a 3k downstream (d/s), so some coordination is needed in terms of safety (marshals) and timing (ideally 2 teams of 2) - please use the regular sign up sheet to help out - everyone will need to take their turn, thanks!

The action doesn't stop there!

We have a date change for the next 200 Club Social & Draw, and a welcome one, too, following the morning's time trials.

Join us from 12 noon for drinks and nibbles.
8 weeks to go to Silver Sculls

A date for your diary - the countdown continues

Just 8 weeks to go... Saturday, 19th October

Please SIGN UP from TODAY to volunteer however and whenever you can

Heads up, literally!

With thanks to Geoff T for reporting it and to Graham Ca and Eric, the hinges on the bay doors are soon to be replaced.

In the meantime, please take extra care when opening and closing the doors to the boathouse.

Final week: a lineup in the making, of your making...

Got the app? Get the app!

Register* TODAY to use the new (and working!) WEY Hey! app
*Please wait the 7-10 seconds for 'Sign Up' box to appear.

What will I be able to do? As before, but now on a more stable platform, you can create your own login to continue signing up for sessions, view the weekend crew lineup (Seniors), book a boat, report an issue with a boat, report an incident, view the list of emergency contacts, shop for kit and more, and more new features to come...

What's happening to my previous app login? Why do I have to signup again? To remain GDPR compliant, individual logins for the first-generation WEY Hey! app have been deleted, so now is the time to make the switch! With greater information security, you can login afresh either using your Google or Facebook login or by creating a new login - thank you for your patience.
