Hello <<First Name>>
and welcome to the

Better-late-than-never edition of

WEY Have A Winner

But not quite in the way you may be thinking: WEY have a winner in the form of your chosen what3words for our Club's location. Although, in fact, there are hundreds of 3x3m references for our island site, you voted for the rather fitting

locate.crew.nearly
Now appearing on our website, what3words helps visitors and the Emergency Services find us more easily and quickly:

weybridgerowing.club/find-us

The Club Committee is now working through an updated version of our Emergency Action Plan to include the what3words for some of the key landing spots along our reach; also to be posted in each coaching launch. Watch this space for an update and download to have on your mobile phone, especially when on the water - this applies to Senior/Masters crews (at least one crew member) and coaches supervising Junior crews, as well as having radio contact with coxes.

Be sure, however, to use a waterproof case, such as the few in the boathouse donated by the RNLI - or these from Lifeproof, recommended for heavy-use

WEY are Faster Masters Rowing?

The promise from Faster Masters Rowing #FMR is just that: to be faster in a year... although if you are not following the plan or haven't started, no doubt no such promise can be made! Dive in (that is, log in) and explore a new and improved:

Not only this and not a moment too soon, but we can now look forward to some 'remote coaching' with thanks to specialist camera mounts - similar to those used in The Boat Race - on their way from Hong Kong, as we speak. So, if you have an action-camera (GoPro and the like) sitting in a drawer not doing much, it is time to charge it up (the spare battery too!) to take it for an outing, or two... hundred!

Select footage is then submitted to Rebecca and Marlene at FMR for their review and feedback. We will, of course, need to keep the camera mounts locked away when not in use and cameras taken away for recharging and repeat outings.

This Is Your Cox Speaking...

Despite the EA last weekend thwarting our first-in-a-long-time Eights outing to kickoff our 2020 campaign, now is a good time still to take stock of what each rower in each seat brings to an Eight and to dispel some of the myths...

Also now is a good time to start thinking about our Hyne Cup crews, with a date now agreed with Walton RC for Sunday February 9th, 2020

Graham Ca for texting near-daily the state of Shepperton weir. In the absence of being able to install a webcam overlooking the weir and weirpool, this is especially useful given our location and how it's behaving being a key factor when making a pre-boating risk assessment
