Dear <<First Name>>,
In light of the Prime Minister’s latest announcement, British Rowing has advised rowing clubs to remain closed to members for the next month, effective this Thursday November 5th.
With this in mind:
We have 12 club ergos available to hire at £10/week for the duration of the November lockdown, payable only by a weekly Direct Debit (GoCardless). Those entering the British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC Online) in December will be given priority: those who have already confirmed their entry account for 7 of the available 12 machines; one is out of action for maintenance; thus there are four machines available for anyone else who would like one, on a first-come-first-served basis.
Application to rent one of our ergos is to be made at bit.ly/WEYToHireanErgo tonight. Please note: you will be allocated a specific ergo and it will need to be collected after 17:30 and before midnight tomorrow, Wednesday 4th November please (after a junior training session), otherwise you won't be able to have them.
As we did in April, we have decided to give one month’s ‘subscription holiday’** for the month of November, recognising that members may be experiencing financial hardship as a result of the lockdown. For those paying Senior, Junior, Concession, Full-time Student and Indoor membership in monthly instalments by Direct Debit through GoCardless, you don’t have to do anything. Your November payment has already gone through so you will receive a notification to say you are on a ‘Coronavirus subscription-holiday plan’ and your December payment will be £1.
If you have already paid your membership subscription fees in full for the year, please send details of your nominated bank account for us to make the refund; please email email@example.com and you will be refunded at the end of the month.
If you are not affected financially by the lockdown and you can continue with your subscription as before or do not wish to be refunded, please let us know, also by email: firstname.lastname@example.org NO LATER THAN November 15th. We would like to offer a big thank you to the 50+ Senior/Junior members who have felt able and willing to continue to pay full club subs through the last lock down. This is much appreciated to help us keep the club healthy too.
If you pay by any other way (standing order, BACS), you are not eligible for a subscription holiday as administrative costs are already too high for those paying this way.
We will review in December, and before if national guidance changes.
Although I am sure that British Rowing are 'in discussion' about this as it came up during Lockdown #1, for now members are able to use a single scull for exercise, but are not able to boat a single for exercise from the Club's pontoon. Thus we are considering the idea of taking a trailer of singles to Thorpe Aqua Park which is, somewhat ludicrously, permissible for member's use. This would include private singles and possibly a couple of club singles. If any member has interest in using this option please advise me by 10pm tonight so we can try to get something organised tomorrow. This is only open to those who have a Certificate of Watermanship (CoW) as there will be no safety cover. (There may be a small per-use lake fee - we are awaiting confirmation). We don’t see how this can work for Juniors as there is a club requirement for them to be supervised and this will be ineffective at Thorpe due to lack of towpath or launch.
**If you are renting a club ergo or using a club single, you will be expected to pay your subs as normal.
The situation is evolving even as I write this, so please keep an eye on your emails for ‘By The WEY’ updates.
