A couple key notices and reminders

So now, apologies for its lateness, what with a coaches meeting last night (more to come on this!) and wanting to see what the river is doing, this week’s update had to be a little delayed. We don’t have all the answers still but be at the Club whatever the weather or river conditions; there’s always some good training to be had - on this occasion thanks to Matt, Clive, Nick and Graham Cocks.

And of course, all the best to all four WEY crews racing tomorrow’s Quintin Head!

See here for the weekend lineup (as far as we can know!)

You will notice from this weekend's lineup that some are showing as ‘Off’ to indicate taking the day off from training after racing Quintin. Take heed!

But also take heart: by following Coach Tom’s plan (and flexing as needed) you will relish these ‘off’ days; the training is notching up a couple gears from Monday.

So ‘Off’ means off, as in no erging, no rowing, however light a paddle. Taking proper rest (or 'active recovery') can take the form of going for a walk or a paddle of the swimming variety as well as taking a moment to ensure you have in place the right nutritional support.

A little planning should go a long way so take a moment to plan what and when you eat after reading this snippet of advice... (thanks to Dashiell for passing on):

Hyne Cup 2018

Sunday 4th February

As this year’s hosts of the Hyne Cup, Weybridge RC have invited as usual: Walton RC, Weybridge Ladies ARC, St Georges BC, Cranmore/Danes Hill, Weyfarers RC, and Thames Valley SC to compete for time or for the following trophies:
  • Hyne Cup - fastest VIII from Walton RC or Weybridge RC
  • Murtough Cup - fastest Men's IM3 VIII from any club on the reach
  • Allwork Cup - fastest Men's Novice VIII from any club on the reach
  • Henry Stebbing Cup - fastest Women's VIII from any club on the reach
We are of course putting in WEY crews to contest these trophies but also entering crews for time/race experience... Details to follow next week.

The format for the morning will run as a big time trial basically, raced over 3300 metres downstream from Elmbridge Canoe Club to Little Tumbling Bay weir, adjacent to Elmbridge Leisure Centre.

More precise timings will be posted next week but we are working on the basis of having two divisions with a Division 1 from 10:00 and a Division 2 from 11:30.

Vote your way to new club racing kit!

We have the option to redesign the club racing kit to make us more recognisable when racing especially amongst other clubs with a similar design to our current All-In-One.

Have your say on the proposed design below.
Your vote matters!
