The Just-in-time-for-the-weekend edition of

Hello <<First Name>>,
The weekend lineup is below but first...

An update from our Regional Safety Advisor

There are a couple of points I would like to make, with advice from the RNLI:

  1. If you row downstream of Molesey Lock, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. The response by the RNLI will normally be quicker than waiting for an ambulance and if you have made the call from the river, ambulance access may be restricted. [Ed. even though we're upstream, this may be of use]
  2. Flotation suits while providing buoyancy, will not necessarily right an unconscious person. A lifejacket is designed to do this. While coaching or umpiring I will not normally enter the water voluntarily. If I do enter the water, it is more likely because I have fallen out of the boat and may be unconscious when I enter the water. For this reason, I will always wear a lifejacket with a flotation suit and hope others coaches and umpires would do likewise.

Many thanks to Steve Wa for making progress with the outdoor storage unit.

Weyfarers are kindly allowing us to use their coxed quad, Barry Daniels for the early sessions of both our Adult and Junior Learn To Row courses, March and April, respectively.

One cox box that went AWOL since before Christmas, has been replaced and another with a spent battery, now refurbished. With thanks to Carl, we are back to 6 working NK cox boxes - please handle these high-value items with care.

Wey To Go will soon be sent off for its refurbishment, with thanks to Rachel.
