Dear <<First Name>>,

Was that it—who put the sun out?

Marlow Regatta at Dorney

Delighted to say that our J14.4x+ of Dan, Archie, Barnaby and Tommy with cox Luca went through heat and semi to come in a tight 4th place in the 'A' final at this event earlier today, Sunday, against strong quality opposition.

Well done lads, and thanks to Matt who masterminded the entry and to Walton RC for taking the boat.

Flood alleviation project

DEFRA and HM Treasury have agreed the outline business case for the River Thames Flood Alleviation Scheme which unlocks a £60m budget for detailed planning and design.

It's part of a £500m scheme to protect homes and businesses in Surrey & Runnymede and will include capacity increases at Sunbury, Molesey and Teddington Weirs and in the Desborough Channel. A by-product of this will be new walking and cycle paths, parks and wildlife habitats. Surrey CC is supporting the scheme to the tune of £270m.

There is not, so far as I can see, any note of when we are likely to see the finished product—all I can say is "don't wait up"!

Tools

Has anybody seen the fine flat-bladed screwdriver with a black handle? We need it for adjusting the chock blocks that hold rudder wires and cox-box cables in position.

If you use them please put them back. There are several nice magnetic racks by the shelves just inside the boathouse door—very easy to use.

And has anyone seen the Apple phone charging cable that used to live in the white cupboard by the kitchen hatch? It has a 'Weybridge Rowing Club' sticker on it.

Upcoming events

Marlow Town on 26th June, J16 regatta at Holme Pierrepoint Nottingham on 27th June. Rowing taster sessions for Jubilee High School Year 8s (about 100 of them) over four dates starting on 28th June and continuing into July.

Sadly, the Weybridge Town Fayre and 200 Club events have fallen victim to the delayed lifting of covid restrictions.

Our new boats…

…are stuck at the port of Yantian—despite being advised that they were shipped—so are further delayed. When I know anything further I'll let you know.

Restrictions at the Club

…continue as noted last week: masks if you can't socially distance; limits on numbers of people in the changing rooms—come ready dressed for rowing; strict limits on indoor training.

Have a nice week, all.
