Win yourself a shiny new rigger-jigger if you can tell me who this is and in which seat he is racing in this ABBA-sponsored crew - and yes, that is the ABBA imprint across the blades! This was a first... and a last in British rowing history! No rules about advertising had been set until then.

To quote the Jeff Watling of today: “The older we get the better we were!

Masters: your views on the new competition framework

The Pairs Head was the first head race to use the new British Rowing competition framework. Crews were grouped into different Pennant categories according to their number of CRI points, and further grouped into broad age groups with no time handicaps applied, e.g. all B/C championship crews race against each other with no handicaps.

Several feel the new system generally unfair and have written to Karon Phillips, British Rowing Masters Committee Chairman - for more information about her and to feedback on the new system, please go here. She has been very supportive and asks as many Masters as possible to write to her; the more people who write, the more likely it is British Rowing will recommend a change in the rules of racing.

If you feel strongly about it, please write to her at karon [at]
