We must bid "farewell" to Seniors/Masters Coach, Tom Oades (pictured, far right), who after nearly a year with us decided he would like to recover his weekends for family life. We are pleased to welcome back, at least for the time being, John Keen-Tomlinson to provide coaching to Masters rowers and input to Scott and Matt, with our high-aspirational Juniors - and any such Seniors who would like to be included #justsay

British Rowing is encouraging rowing clubs across the country to join the Thames Region in marking the moment of silence at 11am on Sunday, 11 November by standing in front of their clubs and displaying club blades as a mark of respect for club members who have lost their lives to war and to say Thank You to all those who have served, sacrificed and changed the world.

As far as can be coordinated, let us, both WEY and WEF, come together on Sunday, 11 November for 11am to observe a minute's silence and share our Blades of Remembrance with the wider rowing community, using the hashtags #BladesofRemembrance #ThankYou100.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published the 2019 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods, and British Rowing want to ensure we know all the key details before it comes into effect on 1 January.

Whether you’re a rower, coach, parent, physio, doctor or strength & conditioning coach, it’s vital you are aware of the changes, so you don’t get caught out and end up with a ban from sport.

The List outlines substances and methods which are banned both in and out-of-competition, but it is not exhaustive as most categories only include common examples. It’s updated every October, giving you time to get to grips with any changes before the New Year, but please also be aware that changes can also be made to the Prohibited List throughout the year.

Several of the changes relate to supplements, or ingredients commonly found within them, while there is also more information around gene doping and examples of certain substances being known by a different name.
