HOW DO I CREATE A POSITIVE MINDSET?

I have really kicked off 2019 with prosperity and abundance…. Not necessarily financial, but in a way that has guided me to so much good, so much organization, so much determination, and THAT is what is leading me to financial prosperity and abundance.

How am I doing this? Well I have talked enough about it, and recently a Girl Boss that I know gave me advice and said, “if you have something to share, then share it”.*

So, I am ready to share with you something that I have been working on and studying for several months. The topic of this newsletter could not be any better to introduce to you and invite you to join:  http://bit.ly/GBNPositivityFBGroup

First, I will introduce you to an exercise of sorts, but the exercise will soon turn into a life long journey that you will live forever. It’s called “The Seven Day Mental Diet”. Written by Emmet Fox in 1935, Emmet was a leader in the New Thought Movement and touched the lives of thousands of people with his forethought.

Let’s begin our new lifestyle with this quote:  Mr. Fox implores: “Make up your mind to devote one week solely to the task of building a new habit of thought, and during that week let everything in life be unimportant as compared with that.”

In this group, we will learn the concept, rules, and have regular discussions on how to maintain this “diet”. We will have zoom calls to discuss our experiences, we will have interactions in the group, and there will be challenges introduced to keep you focused on your new MINDSET.

Before you commit, you must know that you have two choices.

1.  Positivity…… Always welcome the positive which will induce love, joy, appreciation, amusement, excitement, curiosity, positive anticipation, peacefulness, acceptance, satisfaction, playfulness, security, and abundance.

2. Negativity….. Which can easily take over and destroy your well-being by leading to paths of lack, resentment, frustration, worry, dread, regret, jealousy, disapproval, criticism, fear, anger, pessimism, limitation… and that ultimate emotional frontier, victimhood.

Before you read any further, do you choose 1 or 2? If you choose 2 then do not request to join our Girl Boss Positivity group and don’t take the opportunity to learn how to change and control your MINDSET.

If you choose 1... Let's get ready to dive into a new positive life you will LOVE!

Social Media Maven Mash-up, by Pam Daily

Before my network marketing journey kicked off in 2014, I was not convinced there was much value in social media, aside from using Facebook to upload family pics for family 6 states away. I had a love/hate relationship with Facebook, and zero touch with all the rest of them. When I jumped into network marketing, I knew social media was a tool to be handled with care.
Over the years, I have loved the social media learning process, although Facebook likes changing things up pretty often and it reminds me, it is not here for me. So I have learned how to shift my mindset and use Facebook and other social media tools to my advantage. I pay attention to what is working for others in my field, I seek to be inspired and then incorporate my personality, my hobbies, my mission, and more through this window of social media with the goal of connecting with others and growing my business.

What about you? Do YOU Dare to Have a Girl Boss Mindset?

Here are some Social Media Mindset takeaways I have learned and want to share with you:
  1. Post with the intent to engage, educate, and entertain (aka, the 3 Es). Providing value to your followers opens the door for connection, trust, and conversation, and when that trust comes from a natural place, you have new friends who  will trust your expertise and likely become a customer.  Go LIVE, share information, solve my problem, demo a product, post Befores & Afters, make us laugh, teach us something. We all love How-Tos and Tips. (Don't be salesy.)
  2. Share something authentic, don't be afraid to show your vulnerable side. You are human, everyone on social media (for the most part) is human and wants to know that you have worked hard for your success and although not perfect, you have it, and they can have it too. Maybe one day, a follower will become a business partner. People will connect with you more easily when you seem approachable and authentic and believe if you can do it, they can do it too. Be approachable and open minded, and speak from the heart.
  3. Sprinkle in your brand, pick 3 to 5 things you love and share those things that make you YOU. I love my GBN, reading/writing, cooking/baking, fresh herbs, coffee, makeup, and cocktails. When I post about my love for these things regularly, other people who also love these things are more likely to comment, and that opens the door for messaging, and building a connection. (Plus most of us are nosy and like to know what goes on in other peoples' lives.)
  4. Attraction Marketing posts make people want what you have. If people see you are happy, they want to know how they can have what you have so they can be happy like you. But I caution you to tread lightly on this one. I have seen where some people share their monthly earnings, if too high it looks impossible for the average Joe to obtain, you want to share successes but not be over-the-top and appear unobtainable.
  5. Share your story, share you successes, celebrate it every step of the way, pat yourself on the back, celebrate others, LOVE everyone. This is a huge likability factor. If you like me, I look at you as a friend, and automatically reciprocate, then I like you back; this is how we are wired. This is all part of a positive mindset and makes people want to follow you and tell their friends about you. Plus, everyone likes recognition, it feels good and makes you want more.
The bottom line....Be YOU, have a fun, approachable, determined, goal-oriented GIRL BOSS MINDSET.
Social Media Mindset, by Andrea Dotterer
Happy 2019 Girl Bosses!!!!

It’s a brand-new year with lots of opportunities waiting for us, especially as we grow our businesses on social media! As entrepreneurs, social media is a vital tool that serves as a vehicle for building our social influence (reputation) in order to live out our dreams. It has modified the way we communicate in this day and age.  We can connect with millions of people all around the world through our computers and devices.
If used with the right mindset, it can change our lives & the world around us! One of my wise mentors once told me, “Your social media isn’t here for you. It’s for others.” That was literally one of the biggest AHA moments of my career and is what is in my mind each and every time I post.

MY SOCIAL MEDIA ISN’T HERE FOR ME. IT’S FOR OTHERS.

It’s here for me to SERVE the world!

This is the core idea of thoughtfulness. It’s important to put thought into our actions in order to post with intention. Before posting anything on social media, ask yourself these questions:
  1. How is this adding value to my audience?
  2. How can this post start a healthy conversation around the topics I want to help the world with?
  3. Is this authentic to who I am in real life?
You want your audience to take something away from your content that they can apply to their lives and make even a 1% positive change. Share stories, life lessons, and experiences. Be vulnerable, honest, and inspiring. Instead of treating your news feed like a to do list and just liking everything, start having meaningful conversations with others.

My rule of thumb is if I can’t think of anything constructive/positive/productive to say, I will keep scrolling. It is ok to talk about challenges you’ve faced in the past but be sure to follow it up with how you were able to overcome those challenges. The last thing you want to do is drag your audience down in the quicksand with you!

Think about it…If people only remember you based on your social media feed, what would that look like? Do you want to be known for what you are against or what you are for? You can tell someone to be quiet or you can take them outside to play. Which one would have the best positive impact and not have them running in the opposite direction? LOL

It all comes down to how, over time, our daily choices in social media become our reputation (how we are remembered). The future trend is conversational commerce (chat). But in reality, social media is just catching up to how we interact in real life!

I hope this is as helpful and life changing for you as it has been for me!! Happy New Year!

Girl Boss Networking, Spotlight on Irene's Prom Closet
Irene's Prom Closet was born on Valentine’s Day 2014 to honor the memory of Irene Picota, a beautiful young lady, that passed unexpectedly and untimely on November 22, 2013. Irene was selected as one of the most likely “100 Future Leaders of Loudoun County” and was an exemplary Ambassador of God’s love within the
Loudoun community. Irene always went the extra mile to help and bring joy to others, along with kindness and hope.

In order to continue honoring Irene’s name and legacy, her mother, Maria Vallarino and her aunt, Belinda "Bella" Cermola, with the help of her grandmother, Yoly Vallarino, and the support of her brother, Rene, Irene’s Prom Closet was founded to serve the senior student population of Loudoun county (and others as well) by providing prom attire and accessories to both young ladies and men so they can attend their graduation prom. Irene's Prom Closet also assists in obtaining “under the cap and gown” graduation day clothes and “homecoming” attire.

As of February 2018, Irene’s Prom Closet, with the help of volunteers and supporters, has provided more than 3,500 new or like new dresses; tuxedos; jewelry; gift cards for manicures/pedicures; hair salon gift cards; shoes to students that cannot afford the entire shopping experience that this event entails. Some of the student population live in poverty and some of their families are going through hardships. Everything is done confidentially and on an “honor basis” (no questions asked). If you know someone (it doesn’t matter where they live) that is in need of any attire, please send them to Irene’s Prom Closet for more info.

GBN Harrisonburg, VA, Leader Spotlight, by Kaitlyn Terrell

"Have the courage to chase big dreams. Have the courage to be yourself. Have the courage to stop apologizing for who you are."

- Rachel Hollis

I'm Kaitlyn Terrell. I've been married to my husband Aron for a little over 3 years. We have a daughter named Ashton who will be 2 in May. We also have several fur babies.
I absolutely love coffee and spending time with family. Painting/
crafting/upcycling is my newfound LOVE. I always thought I wasn't "crafty" and I couldn't make beautiful things, but, I was SO WRONG! I saw A Makers' Studio and thought, "Wow, this is AWESOME, but I could never do that...". I kept thinking on it and thinking on it and FINALLY decided to give it a try through the encouragement of my mentor. I am so thankful I did. It is so relaxing for me and it gives my my "me" time in the busy world of being a mom.

I love taking something I find and giving it new life rather than throwing it out. I have found my true passion and what I absolutely love doing and the mission behind A Makers' Studio is something I can 110% support. They work hand-in-hand supporting and giving jobs to victims of human trafficking. I love being a #makerboss with A Makers' Studio and truly Crafting a Beautiful Life.

Top 5 Tips:
1. Pick something you absolutely LOVE.
2. Share, share, share. Share your personal stories and how your products help you.
3. Build RELATIONSHIPS.
4. ALWAYS FOLLOW UP! People will remember and appreciate it.
5. CONSISTENCY is KEY!

GBN Fairfax Member Spotlight, by Gayle Arnold

As a Functional Medicine Practitioner, I specialize in teaching clients how to use food and lifestyle
changes to reclaim their energy and vitality through digestive repair and hormone balance. Completing a
quite extensive program of study through The School of Applied Functional Medicine, I learned how to address root causes to support

thyroid health, adrenal function, rebalance estrogens, progesterone, testosterone, and bring blood sugar back into balance.

Functional Medicine “seeks to identify and address the root causes of disease, and views the body as one integrated system, not a collection of independent organs divided up by medical specialties. It treats the whole system, not just the symptoms.”

Winning a trip to Paris in late 2010, was the turning point I needed to force me to grow my potential to show up brighter in the world by doing something I really loved—for me. After 20+ years of doing graphic design in the Government Contracting field, my business: Gayle's Wellness, was started in January of 2011.

Working with clients on their journey to feeling better, I heard the pain of being unheard, the downward spiral of no relief, the confusion of conflicting information, and ultimately the darkness of feeling worse. I see each client as a unique individual, approaching their journey with a beginner's mind, listening as they recount their health history. As we work together, we connect the dots to create a plan for an ongoing wellness journey. No two clients are the same, so it's important that this journey is viewed as a process, requiring commitment on my part and the client's part. I view each client as the CEO in their wellness.

Remembering to listen to the Body, being our own best health advocate, and understanding how we can tweak the chemistry of the Body through simple foundational activities, like eating and sleep hygiene, which supports the Body's ability to heal and repair. By reviewing current lab work, where it may be trending, what results might show up as deficient, we can likely prevent a medical diagnosis which would likely lead to a prescription drug, and then another drug—with no resolution of WHY they feel bad.

Functional Medicine seeks root cause resolution of symptoms. I work with my clients and recommend supplements to fill in nutritional gaps. Lifestyle changes and food guidance are strongly encouraged along with education as to why hormones are important, how they fall, and why gut repair may be the foundation for feeling vibrant and energized.

I help clients--who are ready--to clear up foggy thinking, regain their energy, sleep through the night, manage their stress, regrow hair, put their autoimmune in remission, and bring blood sugar back into balance. And many times his can be the symptoms in ONE individual person.

What has to happen before you take charge of your health? Live the Life You Love—In the Body You Love!!
