Franklin High School Panthers prepare for fans to return for games

Franklin High School announced this week that with Governor Roy Cooper’s recent announcement of COVID19 restrictions being eased, sporting events will now be open at 30% capacity for fans.

Frontline essential workers now eligible for vaccines; Group 4 to begin March 24

This week, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, M.D. announced that additional frontline essential workers in Group 3 will be eligible for vaccinations beginning tomorrow, March 3. The expedited timeline follows the approval of the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine and an expected increase in vaccine supply to North Carolina.

Live Forgiven Church will host a grocery giveaway from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Sunday, March 7, curbside at 45 Crown Ridge Road, Sylva. This is open to anyone who can use a little extra help right now. Simply drive up and prepacked bags of shelf stable food are available to be loaded into your car. Produce and eggs are also given when available. Grief Share Group: Grieving for the loss of someone close to you? GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life. We know it hurts, and we want to help. Grief Share will meet on Wednesdays at 5:30 in the Chapel. COVID precautions are taken and online is an option. We have free workbooks in the conference room.

The Macon County Republican Party will host its 2021 convention virtually from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 6. Delegates will participate by phone. The convention is open to all Macon County voters who were registered as Republicans as of Jan. 31, 2021. Pre-register no later than 5 p.m. March 5 to receive dial-in instructions. The 2021 precinct organizing meetings will be held via Zoom at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 15. Smoky Mountain Pregnancy Care Centers in Cullowhee and Franklin have an educational parenting program to earn “points” to use to obtain free items for your family. The centers carry formula, diapers, wipes, baby items and clothing up to size 6, as well as strollers, car seats, high chairs, pack n’ plays, etc. Donations are always welcome. Gospel Conversations Training Conference: Tom Ford is coordinating this Free Gospel Conversations Conference on March 6 from 8:30 to 4:30. A boxed lunch will be provided in the Fellowship Hall. This hands-on interactive training includes practice of all the tools with an option to engage people in your community as we pray for laborers to be mobilized for the mission.
