I hope all of you beautiful Mama’s had the best Mother’s Day ever!! I know that I sure did! My husband refers to me as an habitual volunteer — so of course I ended up spending my Sunday volunteering!

A couple of months ago I took the kids to a Dino hunt. They hung out the cars and shot fake dinos. That night I decided I wanted to find a way to replicate it and turn it into a fundraiser for the non profits who had been impacted by COVID19.

It took absolutely no convincing for Shawn Bowles and Servpro of Nantahala to sign on and sponsor the event. The same night John Hamlin State Farm and Russ Hawkins Edward Jones were on board. After hearing the plans, Aaron Garrett Land Surveying signed on to help.

I am forever grateful for my family and friends who always entertain my crazy ideas.

We reached out to local nonprofits and the event came together. And like so many other events, Nick worked night shift then got up after an hour of sleep, ready to make it all happen.

My mom was the superhero she always is and helped wrangle the kids and both my sisters gave up their Mother’s Day to help.

Not only did we raise a ton of money for nonprofits that do incredible work in our community like the Macon County Public Library, Heart for Families, Appalachian Animal Rescue, and Franklin High School FFA, but we put in an event that brought families together and something different and exciting for our community to enjoy. You better believe we will be doing this again— and the next will be event bigger and better!

Thank you to everyone who helped put the event on, make it happen, and to everyone who came out to hunt monsters with us. I wouldn’t want to spend my Mother’s Day any other way!
