Mother’s Day Monster Hunt scheduled to raise money for local non-profits

Events and Activities:

Mother's Day Monster Hunt- @Parker Meadows Complex, Franklin NC Sunday at 1 PM  – 4 PM
2020 was a difficult year for non-profits serving Macon County -- in a year where their services have been needed more than ever, fundraising was more challenging than ever. In an effort to help the non-profits that go above and beyond to help those most in need in our community, Servpro of Nantahala is teaming with other local businesses to host a Mother's Day Monster Madness fundraising event.
The drive-thru event will be held at Parker Meadows Recreation Complex where vehicles will drive-thru and encounter aliens, dinosaurs, zombies, and other monsters roaming about. From the car, monster hunters can use their nerf guns to hunt the monsters trolling Parker Meadows. A restocking station being haunted by the Russ Hawkins Edward Jones team will ensure hunters have all the nerf ammo needed to finish the hunt.
Cost for the monster hunt is $10 per vehicle with additional nerf bullets available for purchase at the beginning of the event for $1 a bag.
Come support non-profits in Macon County while giving mom a break on Mother's Day.

May 8, 2021 Heroes 2 Legends Wrestling and Smoky Mountain Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM will present “Wrestling With Life’s Challenges” at the Jackson County Rescue Squad in Sylva, NC.
All proceeds from this event will go to Life Challenge of WNC.
Life Challenge is a Christ-centered residential program for women ages 18-39 with life controlling issues, such as, drug and alcohol addiction. Life Challenge was founded by a group of people who had a desire to see women in Western North Carolina be set free from addiction.
Life Challenge became a 501(c)(3) in 2007. They purchased their 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home the same year. They then took their first resident in 2009 and had their first graduate in 2010.
Since 2010, Life Challenge has had 45 graduates and helped numerous others through referrals.
It costs Life Challenge approximately $1,200 a month to take care of each resident in their recovery program. This includes housing, food, specialized program materials, counseling, and 24-hour care. They never turn a woman down interested in their program due to financial hardship.
So make your plans to come out and support this amazing program with us on May 8th at the Jackson County Rescue Squad in Sylva, NC!

Appalachian Women's Museum Come garden and cook in the great outdoors with Uncomplicated Kitchen and the Appalachian Women's Museum! In this workshop, we'll harvest, cook, eat, and plan our summer gardens in the museum's awesome working garden. And you'll even get a plant to take home for your own garden!
There's nothing like literally reaping what you sow. Enjoying and sharing food from your home garden is one of life's simplest pleasures and in this workshop we're going to do just that.
I'm so excited to collaborate with the Appalachian Women's Museum to provide this hands-on, outdoor garden-to-table workshop for our community!
The first half of the workshop will be harvesting the bounty of spring and making a super nutritious seasonal harvest salad.
In the second half of the workshop, we'll get our hands dirty and learn how to properly plant and sow our future summer bounties in the museum's amazing working garden. And to practice what we learned, all participants will be gifted a plant for their own gardens.
And we want to keep everyone safe, so we'll be taking COVID-19 precautions.
We'll have tons of fun and learn lots of gardening and culinary skills along the way! So come and join us!
