SPORTS DAY 2019
On Thursday May 9, 2019, the whole school community enjoyed a great day of sports, fun and novelty races, as well as serious competition in a variety of disciplines at the Watershed complex. Sports Day is part of week long celebration of our founder, Blessed Edmund Rice - a week which starts on his Feast Day, May 5th. The weather was cool but bright for most of the day, and a great day of activity and entertainment ensued.
Sincere thanks to our very hardworking PE department who pulled together a very well organised event.
FRANCE TRIP 2019
In May, 46 First Year boys travelled to Paris and spent four action-packed days in the French capital. They enjoyed visiting many of the city's famous sites: La Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame de Paris, Tour Montparnasse, the Invalides, Parc Astérix and Sacré Coeur
Many thanks to the staff who accompanied the group - Mr. Ahern, Ms. O’Donoghue, Mr. Canton, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Meaney.
Merci à vous! Un voyage scolaire par excellence à Paris!
REUNION OF CLASS OF 1974

On May 3rd, approximately forty former students who started in CBS Kilkenny in 1969 and finished in 1974, met in the school as part of a great reconnecting night, 45 years after they left! It was our great pleasure to welcome them and to hear the stories and craic and memories they had. Friends who have passed were very fondly remembered.

There to welcome them on the night were two of their former teachers, Marty Murphy and Mick Whelan
Sincere thanks to Eddie Hoyne, Ger Cody and the other members of the hardworking committee who organised a fantastic night of friendship and memories.

PARENTS COUNCIL ‪RACE NIGHT
A great night lies ahead on Friday May 24th. Our very hardworking Parents Council has organised a fantastic night out and a brilliant raffle with great prizes to be won! All funds will go directly to the new school development. Thanks so much for your fantastic support!‬
LOURDES PILGRIMAGE
The ladies in the Lisdowney Afternoon Club gave our Lourdes students a wonderful welcome last week! The Club is a HUGE supporter every year, and this year the ladies made stunning blankets for the pilgrims! Thanks so much!
STUDENT COUNCIL CREST COMPETITION
The Student Council organised a competition to design a crest or logo for the Student Council that will be used to represent it. Students were asked to design a crest that captures all areas of life in the school, including; academic, extra-curricular, sporting and the ethos of CBS Kilkenny.
Well done to our winners Alan, Harrison and Kylle. Fantastic entries at a very high standard!‬
SCHOOL DIGITAL CHAMPIONS
Cathal, Chase, Philip and Eamonn did an excellent job presenting at Google Headquarters in May. The project, “Using rainwater to generate renewable electricity" won the 2019 Technology Award at SciFest sponsored by Intel. Fantastic achievement.
LAUNCH OF CITY WALL SIGNS
Our Trad Band were delighted to be invited to mark the launch by Mayor Cleere and Cllr McGuinness of a great series of City Wall signs in the James’s St area. Great work by Kilkenny County Council and Heritage Ireland.‬
Sincere thanks to Ms Dowling for her guidance and organisation.
MARK POWER GOLF SUCCESS
Mark is enjoying tremendous success on the golf circuit and has been selected for the Walker Cup squad. We wish him every success! He is a great sportsman and a great ambassador.
