RICE CUP BLITZ
On Friday 13 April 2018, CBS Kilkenny was host to eight teams from CBS schools who competed for the Rice Cup and Shield. A great day of hurling was enjoyed by all of our guests and our town teams.
The weather was perfect for the day, and we were delighted to welcome teams from CBS Nenagh, Pobalscoil na Trionoide Youghal, CBS Mullingar, Abbey School Tipperary and CBS Wexford.
Well done to CBS Kilkenny who beat CBS Nenagh to top the group.
Many thanks to mentors Mr Healy,  Mr McCormack, Mr Hanley and Mr Doherty for their great organisation, planning and  energy.

REUNION
Many thanks to David, Ned, Aidan and Roderick who organised an excellent evening of chat, reminiscence and laughter for students from the classes of LC1979 and LC1980. The evening opened in CBS at 6.30pm on 14th April 2018. After initial greetings, surprise and reintroductions, Fr Roderick Whearty led a thoughtful reflection on the value of friendship, camaraderie and memories and included some past classmates by name - sadly some of whom have died in the intervening years.

Former longstanding Chairman of the Board of Management, Matt Breen, warmly welcomed the gathered men and brought them up to date with the latest developments for CBS Kilkenny and the relocation to a green field site.

This was followed by a tour of the school and many funny stories of their history therein. The Halpin brothers' father had donated the periodic table poster to one of the science labs through his job at the Smithwicks brewery. Since then, seven new elements have been recorded!

After old photos were inspected and analysed, the attendees retired to Langton's to continue their night.
Again, sincere thanks to David, Ned, Aidan and Roderick for bringing these former students together once again.

NEW JUNIOR CYCLE ASSESSMENTS
All of the Second and Third year students are busy with preparations for the new form of assessment which has been brought in for the new Junior Cycle Framework. In the coming weeks, Third Year students will complete their CBAs in English, while Second Year students will complete their CBAs in English, Science and Business. More information can be found on www.cbskilkenny.ie.
TEA PARTY
Less than two weeks to go to the American Tea Party!  Remember all funds raised on the night will go towards the new campus. You can support the event in many ways, even if you cannot attend on the night:
- by purchasing a ticket (available at the School Office)
- by donating a spot prize (big or small). These can be left into the School Office between now and Wed 25th April
- by volunteering to help out on the night.
