ENTERPRISE AWARDS:
On Wed 2 May 2018, the reputation of CBS Kilkenny for excellence in enterprise was recognised nationally at the national Student Enterprise Awards Ceremony in Croke Park, with the school collecting two major awards. Matthew O'Sullivan, John O'Brien and Edward Daly were awarded First Place in the intermediate competition with their project Lift Arm Assist which is a safety device for use on tractors.
A Special Merit Award in the senior category was presented to TY student Conor McCarthy for his project Kat Food. He accepted it on behalf of himself and his very close friend Colm Dunne who also worked tirelessly on the project, but who sadly passed away on 23 April 2018 (RIP). There on the day to proudly represent Colm at the ceremony was Peter, his brother, who is a Third Year student at CBS Kilkenny.

A First for Blessed Edmund Rice Sports Day
Tuesday, 1 May 2018 was designated as the day for CBS schools across Ireland to celebrate and acknowledge the formidable legacy of Blessed Edmund Rice to Irish society and particularly to Irish education. In CBS Kilkenny we decided to combine our Sports Day with a celebration of the feast day of Blessed Edmund Rice.
The education of students in our school is not just about academic excellence. It is also concerned with the development of the whole person; physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. It was fitting that the ethos of Blessed Edmund Rice inspired Sports Day where health, wellbeing, teamwork and cooperation are to the fore.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
The next few weeks will be extremely busy at CBS Kilkenny. Whole School Awards Night will be celebrated on the evening of May 16. This occasion showcases the breadth and depth of opportunities which are available within the school, and it allows us to acknowledge the hard work, skills, talents, kindness and leadership demonstrated by our students throughout the year.
TY Awards Evening will be held on Tues 15 May. This ceremony also recognises excellence across all aspects of the TY Program. Student success is affirmed in areas as diverse as drama, community care, eportfolio and presentation skills, sports and many more. It brings to a close a very important year in the lives of our students, and it marks the start of a new phase as they enter senior cycle in August.
Finally, we say farewell to our Sixth Year students at their Graduation Mass on Thurs 24 May, and we wish them every success in their exams and every happiness in their future lives. We will miss them, and we hope they will always feel a connection with and a sense of belonging to CBS Kilkenny.
