SENIOR HURLING DISAPPOINTMENT
Hard luck to our senior hurlers who were beaten by Pres Athenry at the All-Ireland SHA Semi-Final in Ferbane on March 19 2018, with a final score of 4-10 to 2-12 after a great match. Thanks to all of the team and their mentors for a great season.
The Transition Year Drama group did very well in the National Transition Year Drama Finals in Mullingar last Saturday. The boys achieved third place from an entry of 48 schools. They won the Cup for Best Set and Lighting while Peter O'Brien won an Acting award. Their play was a comedy called Easy Stages by Nick Warburton about the stage crew preparing for a production of Hamlet.
REUNION
We are delighted to let you know that there will be a reunion of students from the mid 1970s in Kilkenny on Saturday April 14 2018. Alot of hard work has been done by the organising committee, David Dore, Roderick Whearty, Ned Phelan and Aidan Fitzpatrick. Contact Derek on 085 8532091.

Technology Students Manufacture Trophies
With the annual CBS Kilkenny U11 Hurling Blitz coming up on April 21st 2018, the TY Technology classes are busy producing these super commemorative pieces for each competitor. These intricate pieces double as mobile phone stands - super!

Great Fun at the Funrun
The annual 5km Funrun took place on 15th March 2018 in the beautiful grounds of Kilkenny Castle. The weather held good (just about!) for the afternoon, although the going was 'soft'! Great fun was had by all, and a tidy sum was raised to help fund extra-curricular activites in the school. Many thanks to Pat Downey for his terrific organisation.
FEED THE BRAIN
A very interesting presentation was made by Jackie Varley of Optima Health Kilkenny on the topic of how to eat so that it nourishes the brain as much as the body - of particular interest to our exam students who need great stamina and to stay strong and healthy over the coming months. Thanks to the Parents Council for organising a most informative event.

Richie Sadlier speaks of Wellbeing
Well known soccer star and pundit, Richie Sadlier, visited CBS to address the senior cycle students. Richie trained as a psychotherapist after his retirement from soccer and is especially interested in working with adolescents. He shared many of the challenges which he faced as a young player, and he gave a candid account of some of the low moments which he experienced and his reluctance to seek help.
Richie underlined the importance of seeking support when feeling overwhelmed and of making good lifestyle choices to help maintain our wellbeing. His story is a great reminder to the boys to trust in the support of others and in their own ability to persevere.
Very best of luck to former CBS student John Edward Nolan who is down to the last three contestants in the massively popular Dancing with the Stars, where he is partnering Deirdre O'Kane.
