Heroic Students Recognised
Four Transition Year students received certificates this month from The Kilkenny Fire Service recognising their bravery and quick thinking. Their swift actions prevented a man from drowning at Lady Desart Bridge on November 6th. Well done Tony, Ben, Conor and Paddy. We are very proud of you all.

BOI Money Smarts Success
Congratulations are due this month to our Transition Year Students Matthew, Eoghan, Tom and Jack who finished third in The Bank of Ireland Money Smarts Competition. Well done boys. We wish you continued success in the future.

BT Young Scientist & Technology Competition
Well done to our five teams who competed so admirably in this year's Young Scientist and Technology Competition in the RDS and made time for a little pre-election discussion while they were at it! A tremendous effort was put in by students and staff alike; a level of commitment which we are sure will bring success in the years ahead.

Athletics Success
Congratulations to Billy on winning The Junior Boys South Leinster Cross Country Competition this month and to all of our students who competed so impressively.

Catholic Schools Week
This month saw Catholic Schools Week celebrated in our school with an impressive array of activities, events and speakers. These included spiritual retreats with An Tobar Nua, connecting with the legacy of Edmund Rice with Br. John and The International Community of Brothers in Mount Sion and the launch of our very own CBS Kilkenny Candle. Congratulations to the CSW Committee and The Student Council on a highly successful and enjoyable week.

Handball Champion
Congratulations to Billy Drennan who won the U-17 Intermediate Colleges Leinster Handball Final this month and will go on to represent CBS Kilkenny in the All-Ireland series in February. Best of Luck Billy.

Wellbeing Week
The new year afforded us the perfect opportunity as a school community to focus on the importance of our wellbeing with the launch of the now eagerly anticipated Wellbeing Week. A hugely impressive program this year invited us to reflect on all aspects of our wellbeing. Get Fit Smiling and TY Sports Leadership put us through our paces with fitness workshops, while The South East Swifts brought the fierce and hugely enjoyable world of wheelchair basketball to our TY Students.
Superb workshops and presentations on mental health and resilience were also delivered by Teac Tom, HSE Professionals, Ossory Youth and HSE psychologist Daniel O' Neill. Thanks to The Wellbeing Week Committee for a great week.

Operation Transformation
The TY Sports Leadership team showed how it was done this month in The Castle Park when they helped to organise The Kilkenny Sports and Recreation Partnership's Walk in the Park, as part of this year's nationwide Operation Transformation events. Keep leading from the front guys!

With the support of our community and local businesses we aim to raise €1million to fund projects including an astro-turf pitch and enhanced Science, IT and Arts facilities to see us into the next century.
