IMPORTANT COVID-19 Protocol Information
for the return to Pitt-Greensburg:
RESIDENT STUDENTS: TESTING BEFORE & AFTER RETURN TO CAMPUS:
- ACTION REQUIRED! Unvaccinated resident students who received an exemption to the University’s vaccination requirement must submit a negative COVID-19 test prior to moving into the residence halls for the spring term. Request your test NOW to be delivered to your current location. Unvaccinated residents may not move into the residence halls for the spring term until a negative test result has been received.
- ACTION REQUIRED! All resident students regardless of vaccination status will be required to submit a COVID-19 test within 24 hours after arriving on campus. It is important to also order this test ASAP and have it delivered to your on-campus address. This test can be dropped off at the Chambers Hall information desk beginning Sunday, Jan. 9.
RESIDENCE HALLS OPENING:
- RESIDENCE HALLS WILL RE-OPEN at noon on Saturday, Jan. 8 in order to stagger students’ arrival to the residence halls. (Previously, the halls were scheduled to open at noon on Sunday, Jan.9.)
- ACTION REQUIRED! Please sign up for a time slot during which you plan to arrive at the residence halls. There are a limited number of spaces for the various time slots, so please sign up now to secure your spot.
SHELTER-IN-PLACE DETAILS:
- A University-wide shelter-in-place period will begin on Saturday, Jan. 8 on all campuses for students in University housing. During the shelter-in-place period, students should only leave their rooms or apartments to attend classes, labs, or clinicals in person; pick up food; exercise safely; study in the library; work when necessary; and shop for essentials and medical needs. Read more about sheltering in place after travel.
- The shelter-in-place period will remain in effect until the CMRO advises that it is safe to lift, but will be in place at least 5 days after the last cohort arrives. Based on the above timelines, Pitt-Greensburg will shelter-in-place through at least Jan. 14.
COMMUTER STUDENTS
- Vaccinated commuter students do not have any additional testing requirements at this time.
TESTING FOR UNVACCINATED INDIVIDUALS RESUMES
(COMMUTER & RESIDENT STUDENTS)
As previously announced, unvaccinated individuals must have an approved exemption and are required by the University to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test between Monday-Saturday, every week of the term. This program will resume the week of Jan. 10.
Quest at-home testing:
During the fall, if a student had tested positive (with a PCR test) for Covid, they were exempt from testing for 90 days. This is because they could show a positive result. Now, however, with the Omicron Variant, students who have tested positive in the last 90 days, but experience Covid symptoms should be tested. As long as one does not experience any symptoms during the 90 days, they will not have to be tested.
REMINDERS
While on campus, everyone must wear a face-covering indoors at all times.
The University of Pittsburgh requires every student, faculty, and staff member to comply with certain mitigation measures unless they provide proof that they have been vaccinated (please see University information here).
Upload your proof of vaccination status:
Resident students | Commuter students | Faculty/staff members
Boosters are critical, so register for your booster today or plan to be boosted shortly after returning to campus. The booster provides an increased immune response that improves protection against getting infected with COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available from local healthcare providers.
We know that many of you are excited to return, but please limit your close contacts and do not plan or attend social gatherings.
Updated rules and requirements became effective Monday, Dec. 6, 2021.
