Fall Into Strategic Planning

While kids are getting back in the groove at school, we are all rolling up our sleeves in budget and strategic planning season. It is not quite the same as the smell of sharpened pencils and school pictures, but there is something exciting about the strategic planning process.

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Throughout this month, there are daily virtual events for all ages to learn more about the legacy and successes of Hispanic Americans.

Key State Issues
  • MCUL’s 2021 State GAC will take place on Oct. 13, and we are excited to kick it off with our first “PAC the Pub!” state PAC fundraising event.
  • The Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (ICRC) has been hard at work crafting its initial proposals on state and federal legislative districts for public review.
  • We will be meeting with our federal policy makers virtually this fall as part of a Hike from Home, similar to what we did in the fall of 2020 and for the 2021 CUNA GAC.

  • The Financial Exploitation Prevention Act goes into effect this weekend; if you have any needs or questions on this topic, please reach out to our Advocacy Team.
  • We are monitoring the unfolding efforts on the $3.5 trillion infrastructure package, continuing to discuss the increasingly controversial IRS data gathering program.
  • The U.S. House has passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) legislation, that includes the SAFE Banking Act language to create a safe harbor for financial institutions to bank cannabis-related businesses.
