Key State Issues
  • We continue to work on further movement for HB 4799 and 4800, by Reps. Graham Filler and Kyra Bolden, to enact Michigan’s version of the Uniform Assignment of Rents Act.

  • We have begun work on possible introduction of new electronic and remote notary reforms, and minor amendments in the Michigan Credit Union Act.

  • We remain focused on efforts to utilize some of this funding for state-level CDFI support.
Key Federal Issues
  • All eyes continue to watch efforts in the U.S. Senate to pass the “Build Back Better” social spending bill.

  • There is renewed concern that there may be another attempt to include the controversial IRS reporting requirement in its provisions.

  • Two pieces of credit union-supported legislation were marked up in the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, and advanced by voice vote.
