Welcome to the first Knowsley Chamber e-newsletter of 2021.

Despite the new national lockdown restrictions the Knowsley Chamber Team (pictured) are remaining upbeat about 2021. We are looking forward to hosting meetings and events in-person later in the year and we are launching a new, high quality monthly e-magazine on Wednesday 13 January. Edition 1 is launched with an interview with our Chamber President, Lord Derby.

Lockdown Business Support announced, but it is not with us yet... 

We are awaiting Government guidance in respect of the support available to businesses impacted by the new National Lockdown restrictions. Yesterday, Chancellor Sunak unveiled a new £4.6bn package of support for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses offering grants worth up to £9,000 per property. £594m will be set aside for firms outside of this sector. We will update you as soon as further guidance is made available to us, for now you can read the announcement HERE

Furlough scheme extended 

The furlough scheme will be extended until the end of April 2021.  Businesses will also be given until the end of March 2021 to access the Bounce Back Loan Scheme, Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan and Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme. Read more

Growth Platform unveils new Business Resilience Programme

130 regional businesses will be given the opportunity to rethink their growth strategy through the new Business Resilience Programme which aims to kick start the City Region’s economic recovery. Leaders of ambitious, entrepreneurial SMEs can sign up for the free programme delivered by accounting and business advisory firm, BDO. Read more

A deal with the EU is done but you may still need to take action
A deal with the EU has been reached and businesses should still take action to ensure they are ready for any changes. As with any major change, there will be challenges as we adjust to new ways of doing business with the EU. While the deal seems to secure tariff-free access to EU markets, you should still check what you need to do to allow your business operations to run smoothly. Read more

Knowsley Working Well is here to help - Good health is good business
Working Well has been delivered in Knowsley since 2011 through a partnership between Knowsley Public Health and Knowsley Chamber.  The aim is to support businsses so that they can be equipped to provide health and wellbeing support, activities and programmes, around physical health, and mental health support. SMEs based in Knowsley can access a health and wellbeing grant of up to £500, to introduce health initiatives into the workplace. Email Lorna for a chat and more information. e-mail Lorna
