Winter Energy;
Protection and Intention Setting As Liberation

In many traditional cultures, Winter is a time to slow down, rest, restore, and prepare ourselves, physically, emotionally & spiritually for the work that tending and harvesting brings in the months to come.

2021 has started off chaotic and filled with even more uncertainty, but if there was anything that 2020 taught us is that it is vital to protect & be as intentional as possible with our energy. As BIPOC, the events of last year were traumatizing and debilitating. At the same time, it showed us what community and solidarity are able to do when we collectively organize and are intentional with our time, money, and energy.

The other reminder that 2020 had for us was the fact that the work of liberating Black, Indigenous, and People of Color is a lifelong journey. Anti-racism & anti-oppression work is a persistent commitment, not just a summer book club. We must continue to commit to the work and each other, every day so that the next generation has an even stronger foundation of resistance and healing.

In order to do that, we must be intentional and protect our energy. We must prioritize rest and restoration. We must be willing to let go of old patterns that reinforce the scarcity mindset that white supremacy and colonization forced upon us hundreds of years ago. We must align ourselves and reconnect with the natural world, which teaches us that slowing down and going inward is also necessary for growth to occur. That our season of an abundant harvest is coming.

To help facilitate and support these on-going efforts, below you will find some tools to help with using the energy of winter, spirituality as medicine & intention setting in order to align with our purpose.

May our collective manifestations bring ongoing healing and liberation to our peoples. May we welcome the energy of restoration and abundance. May we trust the Universe and our Ancestors as we continue in our healing journey.

In community and solidarity,
