This month, we are highlighting our impactful Sanitary Pads Manufacturing project.
Monthly Update: April, 2019
Hi <<First Name>>,
Photo: Members of our Girls' Empowerment Clubs are happy to receive your support!
We have now supported 360 students with washable sanitary pads!
Slightly over half of the world's population is female, but around the globe, female students face unnecessary extra obstacles to their education. One persistent obstacle is access to safe and affordable menstrual care supplies.
In much of Tanzania, one of the many ramifications of poor access to supplies is that students must either skip school during their periods every month or else attend school while using improvised materials that lead to a high prevalence of UTIs and other health problems. Help us address this need!
Our sanitary pads manufacturing project uses local materials and expert local tailors to produce washable, reusable sanitary pads at a cost of about $6 to donors for each pack of ten washable pads. The pads we first distributed in January, 2017 are still in great shape, so we expect that each $6 kit will help keep a student healthy and in-school for at least 1-2 years.

Photo: we currently budget to produce about 30 packs of sanitary pads per month, which are distributed by a lottery system in our Girls Empowerment Clubs. Each student only needs 1 pack to remain safe and in-school during her period for an estimated 1-2 years.
