Office Closed July 4th & 5th

The Church Office will be closed on July 4th & 5th in observance of Independence Day and Staff Vacation.

In Memoriam...

We received word this week that the Rev. Nathan J. Morgan died on June 28, 2018. Rev. Morgan served Goodland United Methodist Church as Associate Pastor from 1982-1984. The full obituary is below.

The Rev. Nathan J. Morgan, 65, a clergy member of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference born Feb. 2, 1953 in Hays, Kansas, to Joe D. and Ella (Sanders) Morgan, died June 28, 2018 in Halstead, Kansas.

Nathan graduated from Hobbs High School in 1971 and Panhandle State University in 1975. He married Lorraine G. Ivie of Guymon, Oklahoma on July 6, 1976, and with her embarked on a life of ministry as he graduated from Phillips Theological Seminary and was ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church in 1979. He spent his adult life as an itinerant pastor in the United Methodist Church, serving churches in Jefferson, Renfrow, and Ponca City in Oklahoma; and Argonia, Goodland, Kendall, Lakin, Wichita Mt. Vernon, Anthony, and Newton in Kansas.

Nathan is survived by his wife Lorraine; daughter, Rachelle Morgan; and sons, Joseph (Dyan) Morgan, Wesley (Angela) Morgan and Davis Morgan.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 3, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery followed by a memorial service at First United Methodist Church of Newton, Kansas at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton.

Any person who purchases their ticket to this event prior to July 31st at 11:59 pm (Mountain Time) will be entered into a drawing to have their ticket cost refunded the day of the event. Deadline is July 31, 2018 at 11:59pm (Mountain Time). Drawing will take place live on Facebook on August 1, 2018 at 11:00am. Must be present the day of the event to receive prize.


Goodland United Methodist Church excitedly announces the Living Proof Simulcast event with Beth Moore on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Along with Beth Moore, one of today’s top women’s ministry leaders, worship pastor, and Dove Award recipient Travis Cottrell will lead worship via simulcast.

Presented by the Nashville-based publishing company LifeWay Christian Resources, Living Proof Live will simulcast from its Huntsville, AL, event, so women across the globe will be able to experience a live Bible study with Beth Moore. Living Proof events bring women from all walks of life together for a weekend of biblical teaching, worship, and encouragement.


Doors open at 8:00am (Mountain Time) and the event begins at 8:20am. Lunch will be provided, as well as snacks during the morning and afternoon. It is anticipated that the event will be over before 4:00pm. The event space is fully accessible. Tickets are available by Eventbrite or by calling the church office.

We will be welcoming new members to full membership at Goodland UMC on August 19th during worship. There will also be multiple baptisms during this service.
