We will not be working Thursday, November 28 or Friday, November 29. We hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

We are continuing to install traffic and parking signs on SW Avalon Way. Please take note of the 2-hour parking signs being installed on SW Bradford St, and south of SW Bradford St.
Zone F (SW Alaska St from 35th Ave SW to 36th Ave SW):
As soon as the week of December 2, we will be closing the south side of 36th Ave SW at SW Alaska St for a few weeks to install new water utilities.
Please expect loud noise, dust, and vibrations while we complete this work.

As we begin work on SW Alaska St, please follow King County Metro’s Rider Alerts to stay up to date on bus stop changes.
Work near 35th Ave SW and SW Avalon Way Intersection:
We are continuing work at the northeast corner of 35th Ave SW and SW Avalon Way to install water utilities, pour new road panels, and rebuild sidewalks and curb ramps. This intersection will continue to change as work continues. Please drive slowly as our traffic control will shift frequently.

Please expect:
  • Traffic delays at the 35th Ave SW and SW Avalon Way intersection due to temporary lane reductions
  • One lane of travel in each direction on SW Avalon Way
  • Right turns in and out of driveways at this time
Work is continuing in Zones C, D and E. See our website or most recent email updates for more information on what’s taking place.

Frequent questions about the project
Each week, we’ll plan to address a few common questions we’ve heard from your neighbors.

When will work be completed on this project?
We anticipate completing work as soon as Spring/Summer 2020. We will continue to keep the community up to date on the latest schedule information.

How long will work last in Zone F (SW Alaska St from 36th Ave SW to 35th Ave SW)
We will begin storm drain and utility work in Zone F as soon as the week of December 2, with work anticipated to last a few months.

Businesses are open! Please continue to visit businesses on 35th Ave SW and SW Avalon Way during construction. Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained at all times - please follow signed pedestrian detours.

Please do not disturb traffic control. When you disrupt cones and signage, it endangers other drivers, travelers, and our crews. You can be held accountable if an accident occurs.

We recommend using other arterials such as Delridge Way SW and Fauntleroy Way SW when traveling north and south in West Seattle for the safety of those in adjacent neighborhoods and to avoid traffic impacts on our project corridor.

Overview of upcoming work
What you should expect next week:
  • Lots of construction activity including jackhammering, large trucks, machines, noise, dust, asphalt odors, and vibrations
  • Traffic delays as construction vehicles enter or exit the work zone. For the safety of our crews, please drive carefully and watch your speed through the construction zone.
  • Uniformed police officers or flaggers will typically be onsite
  • Typical work hours from 7 AM – 7 PM
  • Sidewalk and crosswalk detours. Please follow posted detours for people walking when you see them.
  • People riding bikes are to merge with traffic in signed locations through our work zones and should use neighborhood greenways or extreme caution on 35th Ave SW. Consider traveling on alternate routes.
  • There are upcoming bus stop changes. Sign up forMetro’s Rider Alerts to stay up to date on stop relocations. If a stop is relocated or a bus is detoured, signs will also be posted along the corridor.
