Edelman CCCA Update
August 18, 2021
Happy summer! Welcome to the Edelman CCCA Update, our College's newsletter that highlights faculty, staff, student and alumni accomplishments, upcoming events and other important announcements. We will return to our twice-a-month publishing schedule in September, so please continue to contact Jessica at Newell84@students.rowan.edu with submissions for future Updates. Happy reading!
Faculty and Staff Congratulations
Alan Willoughby (Art) and his wife, Linda Shusterman, were featured on an NJ PBS show, called "Potter's Paradise." The segment toured the couple's home and studio and provided context for Willoughby's new pursuit to combine ceramics with social justice messaging.

Herb Appelson (Art) was a featured artist in the American Color Print Society's 2021 exhibition at the MarkArts Center (video tour of exhibition here). Appelson's piece, titled "Iceland," was selected for a local collection.

ATTN: FACULTY AND STAFF
In case you missed the email sent out Monday, there has been an update to the Around Glassboro in a Day event on August 27. Based on the number of people who have RSVP'd for the event at Sandy and Roberta’s house, we’ve decided to reschedule the party for a time when more people are comfortable with attending.  We’re looking forward to the other two events scheduled for Friday, August 27. Everyone is still invited to pick up their welcome-back bags from their department secretary and/or participate in the Exit 4 Escape Room. Sign up for one or both of these here.
The Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts is seeking an intern who is majoring in any program in the departments of Art, Communication Studies, Journalism, PR and Advertising, RTF, and/or Writing Arts to complete a student internship in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the 2021-22 academic year.

Edelman CCCA is a vibrant college that is committed to expanding diversity, working toward greater equity, and building inclusive spaces within our programs, in our research and creative work, at Rowan, and in communities everywhere. We are looking for a driven, passionate student who has a demonstrated commitment to social justice. The successful intern should also have:
  • evidence of excellent written communication skills
  • experience in social media content creation
  • experience participating in DEI-focused initiatives, groups, or projects
The successful intern will coordinate with the Dean’s Office, as well as the chair of the Edelman CCCA DEI committee, to take on assignments to promote DEI work in the College. Projects will include:
  • Writing articles to publicize DEI projects within and beyond the College
  • Forming a student DEI organization and coordinating projects
  • Contributing to CCCA social media to reflect DEI efforts, events, and commitments in the College
  • Maintaining communications between constituent groups to collect entries for the DEI Spotlight in the CCCA Update newsletter
The intern will report to Gina Di Bartolo, Coordinator of Communications and Outreach in the Dean’s office. To apply, please email Gina Di Bartolo at dibartolog@rowan.edu by August 26. Include a cover letter that details the applicant’s interest and experience, a resume or CV, and the name and contact information of a Rowan faculty member who can speak to the applicant’s fit for this position.
