Welcome! This is the Edelman CCCA Update, our College's newsletter that highlights faculty, staff, student and alumni accomplishments, upcoming events and other important announcements.

Student Congratulations
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM wins 11th Gracie Award in station history from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation
The Rowan Report Election Night Special won a Gracie Award in the Public Affairs student category. The show included hourly election night updates on key local and national election races including the contest for New Jersey Governor between Phil Murphy and Jack Ciattarelli. Co-hosted by Rowan Radio News Director Allison Bruce and Public Affairs Director Sam Whalen, the special program also covered important local election issues including college sports betting. Reporters Nick Earnshaw and Connor Brown provided updates and election analysis as well. 
Faculty and Staff Congratulations
  • Keith Brand's (RTF) audio documentary "Kiyoshi Kuromiya: The Wonderful Fabulous Life of a Civil Rights Zelig" was broadcast on WBAI FM New York on Wednesday, April 13 at 8:00 pm.
  • Celeste Del Russo (Writing Arts) published “‘Can’t We Just Stick to the Writing?’:  Empathy Narratives for Social Justice Tutor Training,” in the collection Emotions and Affect in Writing Centers, co-edited by Janine Morris and Kelly Concannon. 
  • Mary Salvante (Art Gallery Director) was featured in the School of Visual Arts NYC 2022 spring/summer visual arts journal for her contribution to the arts around the region and at Rowan.

Rowan faculty, staff and students are invited the inaugural Conference on Children & Families Journalism at Rowan on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10:00am-3:00pm. 

Discussion topics include news coverage of: gun violence, social services, autism, health, the Covid-19 pandemic, K-12 education, school shootings, mental health and child welfare, among others. Register here.

“'It’s a Game:' A discourse analysis of Social Media Responses to the NFL Football is for Everyone Campaign" co-authored with Greg Neidt (Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts)
In June of 2021, the National Football League (NFL) released a video titled “Football is for Everyone” as part of a campaign with The Trevor Project, an organization dedicated to preventing suicide among youth who identify as LGBTQ. The video was intended to position the NFL, and the game of football at large, as inclusive, diverse, and accepting. Given the sport’s common association with masculinity and heteronormativity, as well as professional sports’ influential role in American culture in general, this move by the NFL represents, on the surface, a welcome attempt to update and change their image. However, the good faith of these (re)branding moves is often called into question and debated both internally and externally as performative. . .read more
