Hope to See You Soon

~ A Word from Pastor Chris
Indoor live worship is back at Southern Oaks Campus

I hope that you will share in our worship experiences this weekend. I would love to see you in person but I understand that some of you will be watching via the Internet. Either way, I am excited to know that so many of us will be a part of the same ministry this weekend.

These times are deeply troubling in many ways, but I know we will find strength and hope by uniting in worship, through the study of God's Word, through prayer, and this weekend by taking communion. We need to take refuge in our sovereign and steadfast God and also to find comfort from being united with other believers.

Kathleen and I have returned from some rich family time in the Midwest and I will be preaching this weekend on The Parable of the Prodigal Son. Pastor Chris Atkins has also been away for a time of refreshment and he will be leading in worship at the outdoor services at our Woodridge Campus. He has a very meaningful worship experience planned for us.

We are moving back indoors for live worship at our Southern Oaks Campus this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The worship center there is large enough that we can host a lot of people at a safe social distance. You can read more about that later in this email. Because the stage is so large, we can also include a much larger worship team.

The season is changing in Florida, so outdoor worship isn't going to be quite as pleasant as it has been. For that reason we have moved back the Saturday service to 6:30 p.m.  I might also add that the Sunday morning services, especially the first one, are more likely to provide pleasant temps and less chance of rain. However, Pastor Sam proved last Saturday that we can worship right through a rainstorm. We now have an awning over our stage and of course, cars and golf carts can "button up" and listen over the FM station if it happens to rain at some point.

The indoor space has been made available at our Woodridge Campus with very safe protocols and a few people have discovered that it is a great option. You will read later in this email a testimony from one couple who discovered that they preferred that option. If you park in the east lot, you can enjoy a golf cart shuttle service to the building and then back to your car. We have room for lots more inside even with plenty of social distancing.

This weekend, bring some food to share with those who are in need during these challenging times. There will be an easy way for you to hand it off to our team who is collecting for the Wildwood Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.

I know that we are all making adjustments with regards to what feels safe. Everyone chooses their own preference and we want to honor that. Please respect one another, putting their needs ahead of your own as we are advised in Philippians 2:3-4. We are creating multiple pathways for your reentry to worship at Live Oaks Community Church, so I am confident you will find an option that is just right for you. That being said, I do hope I get to see you real soon. I have discovered as a pastor/shepherd that I would much rather see my flock, even if it is through a windshield, than imagine them at home watching our online service from their couch. I guess that is my way of saying, "I miss you."
The Power of Prayer

Come Pray With Us

Please gather with us as we resume our Power of Prayer ministry (POP) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Thursday, June 11, in the LOCC Woodridge Campus Commons. Our restart couldn’t come at a more crucial time as our country faces multiple crises with the continuing challenges of the COVID pandemic, and now the recent tensions and unrest surrounding the death of George Floyd. Let us pray for healing, restoration, understanding, wisdom, and protection for all our citizens and leaders. Social distancing protocols will be observed, and we encourage everyone to wear face masks.

POP meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month to unite in guided prayer for our families, our church, and our nation.

Inside Is Good!

"We felt safe and blessed."
~Tony and Melissa Kamus
We had a wonderful experience coming back to the inside of the building to worship. The setup was extremely safe and efficient. We enjoyed the shuttle service from the east parking lot provided by Paul Erdmann. Pastor Sam and his wife Cheri greeted us as we came in and made us feel welcome. It just felt good to be back in the worship center. Everyone was very socially distant. We felt safe and blessed!
