FUNDING SECURED FOR RFCS GIPPSLAND UNTIL 2020

 
The Minister for Agriculture, The Hon. David Littleproud MP, announced on 7 June, the Commonwealth will extend its support for farming and rural communities through the Rural Financial Counselling Services (RFCS) program until 2020.
 
The Chair, RFCS Gippsland Aubrey Pellett said "This is a fantastic outcome for our local farmers.  Being able to secure ongoing support and assistance to farmers trying to manage, recover and diversify, will go a long way in sustaining the agriculture industry in our region”.
 
Kylie Holmes, Executive Officer also welcomed the decision to extend funding, "Our Counsellors are now able to continue to do what they do best – support clients to understand their financial situation and equip them with skills to manage change.  I thank all our staff for their ongoing dedication to our clients and our service. We look forward to continuing our support and working towards sustainable outcomes for our farming communities".

Local IGA and Metcash donate to Gippsland Farmers

A big thank you to Michael Lorenz from Michael's IGA who donated $40,000 and Metcash who also contributed a further $6,448 to support local Gippsland farmers through difficult times with shopping and fuel vouchers.

RECYCLING SILAGE WRAP

Farmers are urged to recycle silage wrap with Wellington Shire Council, who are providing user-friendly disposal options.  Council is offering a subsidised fee for disposal at $11 per Bulka Bag.

The silage wrap collection locations are at: Kilmany and Yarram transfer stations.

Dates open:  16 July - 13 August.

Second-hand Bulka Bags are available for FREE from the Sale Depot - Finegan Crt, Sale.

FREE FARM ENERGY ASSESSMENTS - may deliver savings!!!

On-farm energy assessments analyse farm energy use (electricity, gas and diesel) and identifies opportunities for energy efficiencies, maximising output volumes per energy unit, and options to convert to renewable energy sources... all with the aim of putting more money back into your pocket.

Farm Energy Assessments will be a prerequisite for future on-farm energy grants.

THE NAKED FARMER
raising funding for Royal Flying Doctors Mental Health Unit

This cheeky idea was the brainchild of a Victorian farmer, Ben Brooksby, who wants to "raise money and awareness mental health in the agriculture industry"  and normalise the discussion around mental health issues and encourage people to open up and start talking about how they are really feeling when they're struggling.
