Reminder / Invitation

Hello friends, just sending you a gentle reminder about upcoming events, and offering you a few possible ways to participate in ORA's  ongoing mission of creating space for conversations about loss, grief and hope. :)

If you have already registered for one (or both) of these workshops, we look forward to seeing you! if you are thinking of joining us but haven't registered yet, please confirm with me ASAP (email below) so we have a better idea of how many participants we will be welcoming next week.

We are also looking for a few volunteers to help make the choir room more inviting with a bit of tender loving care/cleaning sometime in the next few days, and to set up tables and chairs in the sanctuary for Tuesday evening's workshop. If that is something you might be willing to offer, please let me know and we can arrange the details.

Whether or not you are not interested in the workshops for yourself, perhaps you know of someone else who might benefit? If so, please pass on the message. Thanks!

Spiritual Caregiving at the End of Life

Going Beyond Traditional Formulas

Many times, those of us who function as faith leaders in our respective communities are called to provide spiritual care to members of our community who are living their final days. Are the traditional formulas we have all learned within our respective faith traditions always the most helpful way to respond to someone who is living his or her last days? For some, perhaps, yes; for others, perhaps, not necessarily.

You are invited to attend a 2-hour workshop on this theme, the aim of which is to help all of us who provide End-of-Life Spiritual Care with more tools for our spiritual care toolkits. This workshop will be presented in a multi-faith context. We all have a lot of experience that we can share with each other - and which we can also learn from each other.

This workshop will be lead by:
Rev. Ian Smith
Minister - Ste-Geneviève United Church
Team Member - ORA Loss and Living Program
Spiritual Caregiver - Supportive Care Services, West Island Palliative Care Residence
Member - Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC)
