Ashley Elkins' Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"Hands down, I prefer Christmas Eve over Christmas day. For years the “kids” prepared a super special meal to eat, now the grandkids get in on the action. We spend hours in the kitchen cooking and delight in the oohs and aahs around the table as we feast. After dinner, we open our family’s presents to each other, one at a time, everyone watching what the other receives. There’s usually decaf coffee flowing, often Christmas music in the background, and always lots of love and laughter. For bonus, I’ll add that my kids favorite thing is a new tradition to our families - advent calendars. They delight in opening each day."

Carolyn Brownson's Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"My favorite tradition is Christmas Ornaments. Every year my parents, grandparents, and uncle all gave me an ornament. My parents always gave me one to remember the year by, my grandparents gave me an angel from a Mary’s Angel Collection, and my uncle a Waterford Ornament. As an adult, I have started this tradition with my husband and children. There is a long story about birds with my husband; one year, I gave him turtle doves as a gift. Since then, I have always found a pair of birds to give him each year. I have also given my children ornaments that make me think of the year and remember where they are in life. I love sitting quietly with the warm lights of the Christmas tree and looking at all the ornaments throughout the year. "

Chris Elkins' Favorite Christmas Tradition:

"The worst thing that ever happened to me was on Christmas. Oh, God. It was so horrible. It was Christmas Eve. I was 9 years old. Me and Mom were decorating the tree, waiting for Dad to come home from work. A couple hours went by. Dad wasn't home. So Mom called the office. No answer. Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing. So the police began a search. Four or five days went by. Neither one of us could eat or sleep. Everything was falling apart. It was snowing outside. The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire. That's when I noticed the smell. The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus." - Gremlins (Chris's second favorite Christmas movie, the first being Die Hard.)

Jayme Bennett's Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"Spending time with family and enjoying great food. We also like riding around and looking at Christmas lights."

Dacey Jade Shands' Favorite Christmas Tradition:
“My first favorite tradition is Christmas decorating! Growing up, my family would finish Thanksgiving dinner, get in our pajamas, and start decorating the house. Now that I am married, my husband and I have continued my family tradition of getting a new ornament each year for Christmas. I love the opportunity to spend time with my loved ones and fill the place with Christmas cheer. Second tradition that I love is dressing up as an Elf for the Christmas season. Where I grew up, I am known as the Christmas Elf. I would dress as a Christmas elf and volunteer, carol, help people during the holiday season. I hope to become the Christmas Elf in Tupelo as well.”

Megan Wright's Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"Mine is less of a tradition and more so just a general enjoyment of the season. I love the extra time spent with family and friends during this time of the year. I enjoy the festivities and joy we share in the workplace. I treasure getting to spend time with my people. "

Sheila Allison's Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"Celebrating the reason for the season."

Zach Moore's Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"Spending time with family and friends."

|
Trey Burleson's Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"My favorite Christmas tradition is either seeing other people’s decorations or drinking hot chocolate on cold days. While I do love the great food and terribly corny music, nothing intrigues me more than looking at how another family will decorate their house. Seeing big ol’ snowmen and sometimes even LED panels on walls for designs is SUPER sick! "

Tessa DeLaney's Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"My favorite Christmas tradition is on Christmas Eve my family and I make cookies and have a decorating contest. "

|
|
Bryant Edwards' Favorite Christmas Tradition:
"My favorite Christmas tradition honestly starts only a couple days after Thanksgiving, generally on that following weekend. My family takes a trip out to the Worthey Christmas Tree farm and we enjoy hot chocolate/cider, ride in the hayrides, and enjoy the outing together. Aside from that, I enjoy our Christmas meals on the night before Christmas - it always makes me feel so tired afterwards, all I want to do is head straight to bed on a full stomach."
