Office of Diversity Enhancement Sharing News and Opportunities of Interest
Dear 4th Year Medical Student:
The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is offering a one-time "Virtual Clinical Elective in Equitable Healthcare" and welcomes you to join!
This two-week elective provides an opportunity for non-Hopkins 4th year MD students to explore Johns Hopkins as an option for residency. We would like to encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds in medicine (UIM) to apply. Diversity in medicine is incredibly important and we want to welcome all students with diverse backgrounds and experiences to join our student body and faculty!
This elective has a morning specialty-specific curriculum of the student's choice (with one of 16 participating departments) and an afternoon universal curriculum focused on healthcare disparities and inclusivity. This is an excellent opportunity for students to network with Hopkins program directors and faculty members.Plenty of spots still available!
The participating departments are: Dermatology & Ophthalmology, Emergency Medicine, IM, Neurology, Neurosurgery, OBGYN, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Pathology & Medical Oncology, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, and General Surgery & Pediatric Surgery.
The application deadline is September 11, 2020. It might take some time for you to get your transcript submitted, so please try to apply soon!
