Dear Friends,

The passage in the image above is taken from the Old Testament book of Zephaniah. The book contains just three chapters, and so Zephaniah is considered a minor prophet given its relatively small size compared to other prophetic books in the bible. Yet the message in Zephaniah is far from minor, taking place during a period of spiritual revival in Judah, and before Judah's eventual backsliding and fall to Babylon. Zephaniah looks forward ultimately to the coming of the Lord. The second coming of Jesus. The day of the Lord, which will bring judgement and a great divide. For God's people, who have waited for their God, the promise is that the Lord will be in their midst, as the warrior that saves and gives victory, as He who rejoices with gladness, as He who renews and quiets with His love, and as He who exults with loud singing. Our God is a warrior! He gives victory and salvation to His people. That will come to its full fulfilment when the last enemy, death, is a conquered foe, at Jesus' second coming. Is it any wonder that the Apostle Paul, some 650 years after the Prophet Zephaniah, asks, "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31).
Vacation Bible School (VBS) has been taking place all week at the Great Yarmouth Church building. The theme has been "You are God's Treasure". Each day has started with lively singing, prayer and bible stories. Crafts have been done in the upstairs function room, followed by lunch, before heading downstairs to finish with more singing. The children (young and old) have thoroughly enjoyed the VBS experience, learning valuable lessons about being God's treasure. During our Worship Service this Saturday/Sabbath at 11.15am, there will be a short video of VBS and the singing of the theme song by all the children. Many thanks to all the helpers this week, and a big special thank-you to Auntie Norma, for all the planning, preparation and leading out.

This Sabbath at the Lowestoft Church Building, the Worship Service at 11.15am, will follow the Adult, Children and Teen Sabbath Schools, which start at 10am. The Adult Sabbath School will be in the church hall to help facilitate disussion. The Worship Service will also be on Zoom and Facebook. After the service there will be a potluck / bring your own lunch, followed by a church district discussion, which will start around 2.30pm.
Be Blessed,

Pastor Mark
