Dear Friends,

Psalm 55:22 says "Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you" (The New King James Version). A more modern translation is above, and says, "Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you". These words have been especially meaningful this week. The sense is of personal companionship and the sharing of burdens. As the hymn writer says, it is "leaning on the everlasting arms". And it is leaning on the shoulders that the prophet Isaiah says of, "the government will be upon His shoulder" (Isaiah 9:6). If those shoulders can bare the weight of government, they can surely share our burdens! The promise is of care, and sustaining, in the midst of life burdens. We therefore should not hesitate to bring the Lord into the matters at hand, and immediately into those unexpected events that life throws at us. The promise of care and sustaining is made sure by the one and only true promise keeper!

Most of you probably listened to the Prime Minister this week, where he confirmed plans to continue with the fourth stage of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown on Monday 19th July, bringing an end to most remaining restrictions.  Dr. Emmanuel Osei, South England Conference President, writes "Where government restrictions are lifted, the emphasis will be on ‘personal responsibility;' and while some within our congregations will be relieved that legal restrictions are coming to an end, others will be anxious about the changes. The public will be encouraged to make 'informed decisions' to manage ongoing risks, and it is likely that churches will need to make similar individualised decisions based on local context". He also wrote "Although there are no specific updates to the government guidance document concerning places of worship yet, updated advice is expected imminently, with a few guidelines likely remaining in place throughout the summer and into the autumn/winter period". So please stay tuned and updates will be included in this Newsletter next week.  We will continue to meet at the Lowestoft Church building for now, with a date of Saturday/Sabbath August 7th set for the return to the Great Yarmouth Church building on Sabbaths.

This Saturday/Sabbath, we will have a baptismal service as part of our Worship Service at 11.15am, at the Lowestoft Church building. This will follow the Adult, Children and Teen Sabbath Schools, which start at 10am. Social distancing will be in place and face covering are to be worn unless exempt. The worship service will also be on Zoom and Facebook. After the service there will be some lite refreshments to celebrate the baptisms.
Be Blessed,

Pastor Mark
