He came in meekness, Him who is greatness. Luke 2:12 (NKJV) describes the Angelic announcement of Jesus birth to the Shepherds, "And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” For manger think animal feeding trough (the same underlying greek is used in Luke 13:15). The shepherds would have been very familiar with a feeding trough. But it was not normal for a feeding trough to be used for a baby, let alone for the new born Messianic Ruler. It was truly a sign for the Shepherds and foreshadows the path of humiliation and suffering that awaited the Child.
We are told in Luke 2:19 (NKJV) "But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart". Mary kept and pondered these wonderful life events. May we do likewise as we especially remember at this time of year the good news of great joy to all peoples, of the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Our services this Sabbath/Christmas Day are listed below, both at the Great Yarmouth Church and the Lowestoft Church. Zoom and Facebook will be live-streamed from the Great Yarmouth Church. Paul Manogaran will be speaking at Great Yarmouth. Pastor Mark will be speaking at Lowestoft. Face coverings are once again compulsory in places of worship unless a person is exempt.
On behalf of Norma and myself, we wish you and your loved ones every blessing for this holiday season. We pray you will get some extra time to relax and rest after another difficult year of living with all the ups and downs of Covid.
He came in meekness, Him who is greatness!
