Dear Friends,

All of us know the excitement of discovering an absolute gem of a story. Sometimes in the most unexpected places. This week I read such a gem in 2 Chronicles, Chapter 25, in the Old Testament of the Bible. The account is not very long and is about the King of Judah named Amaziah. At that time the nation was divided, with a King of Israel (in the north) and a King of Judah (in the south). Amaziah, the King in the South, had a battle to fight so he hired some of the mighty warriors from the north. But then a "man of God" comes to him with a message from the Lord. We do not know who this was, one of many unnamed and unsung heroes of faith.

The "man of God" warns the King of Judah not to use the mighty fighting men from the north as they were idolatrous and did not serve the true God. The King responds by saying that he has already paid them to go into battle with him. The response to this from the "man of God" is timeless wisdom for today.  He says "The Lord is able to give you much more than this"!  It is always right to do the right thing because of conscience sake before the Lord, even if by so doing we suffer loss. The Lord's promise is clear, "The Lord is able to give you much more than this". The King obeys what he is asked to do and sends those mighty warriors packing. What a gem of a short story and what timeless wisdom for each of us. "The Lord is able to give you much more than this"!

This Saturday/Sabbath, we will meet again at the Lowestoft Church Building for Adult, Children and Teen Sabbath Schools, starting at 10am. That will be followed by our Worship Service at 11.15am. The Worship Service will also be on Zoom and Facebook. We do want to encourage you to attend in person. Social distancing will be in place and masks are required. We look forward to Helen Wilkinson singing the hymns for us.  The children's story will be told by Danail Keshishyan. Pastor Mark will give the penultimate message in the series on the Feasts of the Lord found in Leviticus 23. The message is titled "Come Boldly" and It looks at the Day of Atonement.
Be Blessed,

Pastor Mark
