Dear <<First Name>>

Welcome to the latest round up of news and opportunities for local businesses, sharing details of some of the latest free courses being offered by Marches Growth Hub, our coworking dates for the next 2 months and a profile of one of the local small businesses that has benefited from our Business grant scheme.
Co-working days
If you've never tried coworking before, why not make 2020 the year that you give it a go?  Our free co-working spaces are back at Weston Rhyn Village Institute, St Martins Community Centre and Gobowen Central Library and Hub.  Bring your laptop and whatever you're working on, come along and give it a try for a couple of hours, or stay for the full session.  There is always a member of the Big Local staff team there to welcome you, and you can meet other local business people or homeworkers.

Parking, wi-fi, tea and coffee all provided.  There is no need to book but it does help us plan if we know who is coming along.  You can get in touch with us by email (info@big-local.org) or through our facebook page and let us know if you are planning to join us.

Future dates:

Tuesday 4th February - Gobowen (9am-5pm)
Tuesday 18th February - Gobowen (9am-5pm)
Wednesday 19th February - St Martins (9:30am - 2:30pm)
Thursday 27th February - Weston Rhyn (9:00am - 4:00pm)

Tuesday 3rd March - Gobowen (9am-5pm)
Tuesday 17th March - Gobowen (9am-5pm)
Wednesday 18th March - St Martins (9:30am - 2:30pm)
Thursday 26th March - Weston Rhyn (9:00am - 4:00pm)

About co working:  Co working is a great way for people who usually work on their own to occasionally share a workspace with others. Ideal for people who run their own home-based business, or anyone that is employed and works from home.  You are welcome to come for the full session, or just to drop in for a couple of hours.
Small Business grants from Three Parishes Means Business

Over the next few editions, we are going to be featuring local businesses that have benefitted from our small business grants scheme since we launched the scheme in 2018.

This month we feature Weston Rhyn based business “Wilson’s Bookkeeping”.
Stephen launched Wilson’s Bookkeeping in 2016 on a part time basis and moved to fully self-employed in 2019. Stephen provides a bookkeeping service to trial balance stage, payroll, VAT, invoicing, bank reconciliation and credit control services.  He also works with clients to assist in Self-Assessment.

Wilson’s Bookkeeping provides services to a very diverse client base from cafes to tradesmen, and rugby league players to sound engineers including self-employed, sole traders and Partnership businesses.

Stephen used his grant from Three Parishes Big Local towards the cost of a new, more efficient, laptop computer, enabling him to operate professional accounting software resulting in better quality work in a shorter time period.

What does the future hold for Wilson’s Bookkeeping? This is what Stephen had to say when we asked him…
“Thanks to a support from Three Parishes Big Local I have been able to study for further qualifications and will soon be able to offer bookkeeping work to Limited Companies.  In the near future, Stephen’s wife will be joining the business as they grow and continue to attract new clients”

Renewable Energy grant scheme
A new scheme has been launched to help businesses across the Marches meet the cost of switching to Green energy.  The Marches Renewable Energy Grant Scheme can help small and medium sized enterprises across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin get a 50 per cent grant towards installing renewable energy sources.  Grants will only be awarded for new installations under the scheme and the scheme covers a range of renewable technologies including wind power, solar energy, air-sourced heat pumps, ground-sourced energy supplies and biomass.

See www.herefordshire.gov.uk/MarRE for full details of the scheme.
The launch of our on-line business directory is imminent so look out for news in the next edition.

That's it for this edition - if you book places of any of the courses that we have included in this newsletter, please let us know, and please get in touch if you would like more information on our small business grant scheme.    We would also be interested in your views on what sort of information you would like us to include in future newsletters.
