The Cramp Wedding

Many congratulations from all at Solefield to Mr & Mrs Cramp on their wedding day, held in the October half term. Let's read all the juicy details from Mrs Cramp on their big day!

"The wedding day was more than we could have ever imagined. The ceremony was in the gardens of the Villa, accompanied by a string trio playing With or Without You. We even had some of Mr Cramps friends as our 'Flower Dudes' (if you're not sure what these are, look for them on youtube - a great way to start the ceremony). After the ceremony, we had an aperol van and an ice-cream/gelato van with 5 different options - both being a highlight of the day for us and our guests. We had our speeches and dinner in the outside Tuscan Barn, which was lit up with colourful lights. It was so nice to be outside in October! Our wedding breakfast was a true feast of 5 courses of delicious traditional Italian food. The highlight being, a Duck Ragu Gnoccetti. Our cake was a traditional Italian wedding cake - a Millefoglie, if you haven't tried one, we highly recommend it. Whilst cutting the cake, our friends and family sang 'That's Amore', this was a lovely surprise addition to the day. Then came the first dance - a song called 'I Guess I'm in Love, by Clinton Kane, followed by a night of dancing to cheesy music. We really did have the best day.

Published Authors - Twisted Tales

Once again, Solefield boys have had their fantastic imaginative writing published in a collection of mini sagas from Young Writers. This year the challenge was to write a 'Twisted Tale' - to tell a tale from a unique point of view or original perspective. Some of the boys used their sense of humour; however, the majority focused on the word 'twisted'. And twisted they are! Well done to all these budding young authors; they'll have their readers hooked.

Zones of Regulation at Solefield

As part of SEL (Social Emotional Learning) at Solefield we have introduced the Zones of Regulation. This is an internationally recognised curriculum which we have implemented across the whole school to help students identify their emotions and learn how to regulate them.

What are the Zones?

The Zones of Regulation is the original framework and curriculum (Kuypers, 2011) that develops awareness of feelings, energy and alertness levels while exploring a variety of tools and strategies for regulation, prosocial skills, self-care, and overall wellness. This curriculum provides a straightforward way to think and talk about how we feel on the inside and sort these feelings into four coloured Zones.

Stay & Play

Our bright and airy Lego room was bustling with preschoolers busy creating Lego masterpieces at today's Stay & Play. Children were fully engaged and occupied playing with friends, while parents and carers could chat over tea and coffee.

We still have places in our remaining autumn sessions which can be booked on the link below. Please feel free to invite other parents and carers outside the Solefield community, who are very welcome.

Tennis Club Tournament

Well done to Jonah (5C) and Noah (5E) who recently entered their first tennis club tournament, at Horsmonden Lawn Tennis Club.

Both boys received a certificate and Jonah came 2nd place. They each played 7 matches; Jonah won six and Noah won three. The one game Jonah dropped was to Noah though! Both had a fun day out.

Well done boys.

Henry enjoys Sevenoaks drama experience

Well done to Henry N, Year 7 who was involved in preparing for the Stag Youth Theatre (SYT) production of High School Musical.

"I auditioned for a part with SYT in Sevenoaks and we started rehearsals back in August. Together with my friend Josh (Solefield leaver 2022), we rehearsed for 2 hours every Tuesday and Wednesday night. We were due to perform the show in the half term, but unfortuately the actual performance didn't end up going ahead.

However, we still got to perform onstage at the Stag for the dress rehearsal, which was a great experience and I had several costume changes. My costumes involved 'a green bee', 'a skier' and 'a school pupil'."

Henry said, "The whole experience was really fun, especially doing it with my friend Josh. The Directors were very kind and I learnt how to properly act on stage and coordinate with a large group of people. I really found a lot of joy in it and I hope I can do it again!"

Karate Coach Saves Life

We were delighted to come across this story about Mr James McSharry (pictured at right), Solefield Karate Coach and ex Solefield parent.

"The whole team at Sevenoaks Physiotherapy are so Proud of our Physio James McSharry! James has just been awarded the South East Coast Ambulance Award - "CEO's Commendation" for saving Robert's life after performing CPR with another bystander- Tristan at Sevenoaks Railway station. Every 2 years we as a team do our CPR and Defib training as a group, in the hope we never use it, so thanks to "Peak Skills" who teach us so well, and for everyone who has not done their training this year... you never know when you might have to do what James did! Congratulations James and Tristan."
