Solefield 75th Alumni Launch

We are so excited to be welcoming back our alumni this weekend. In honour of our 75th anniversary, this weekend marks the launch of this new network for alumni, their parents and ex-staff as well as a special bursary and community fund. A large number of alumni and their families are returning to Solefield this weekend to meet up over a glass of something, to view the whole school Art Exhibition and to wander around their former classrooms as well as areas they may not have seen such as the Lego Room, Jungle Room, Art Studio, Science Lab, Computer Suite and bespoke Pre-Prep area. Our School Assistant, Miss Henry has enjoyed putting together this special display together for our alumni to reminisce on their time here at Solefield.

Mr Bowden, Cricket Hall of Fame

Our very own Mr John Bowden has been inaugurated into the Wisden Cricket Hall of Fame. What an amazing achievement! Mr Bowden was published in this month's Wisden cricket magazine, which begins,

"Born two short years after organised league cricket first came to Kent in 1971, no player in KCL history has been quite as productive as John Bowden, whose impishly adventurous opening batting has clocked up over 12,000 first XI league runs, including 19 centuries, while his late-blooming left-arm spin has snared 299 top-flight victims “by firing it into the pads”. It has been a glorious 33-year romp around the Garden of England, all but one of which has been at his beloved Sevenoaks Vine."

"John was a lock for the Kent Cricket Board XI, which enabled him to play a handful of List-A fixtures against county opposition, including Shane Warne's Hampshire." John goes onto say about playing against Shane Warne, "The best day of my cricketing life."

Muddy Stilettos Reviews Solefield

We are delighted to share Muddy Stilettos review with our parents, in time for our 75th Anniversary launch this weekend.

"Solefield School, a small but perfectly formed, non-selective prep in well-heeled Sevenoaks puts pastoral care and happiness at the top of the agenda. It boasts an excellent academic reputation, while being the perfect place for gentle, happy boys....In 2023 Solefield celebrates its 75th anniversary (1948- 2023). As always at Solefield, these celebrations are focused primarily on pupils past and present and include lots of fun activities – like a vintage ice-cream van to start the festivities treating the pupils to a ‘Solefield Special’ double cone, using VR headsets to go back in time, a whole school visit to an aircraft museum (one of their first Heads flew in WW2), a special summer street party and a huge Diamond 75th Ball for parents and Old Boys in a marquee in the school grounds."

"In honour of the 75th anniversary, the school is also launching a new network for alumni, their parents and ex-staff as well as a special bursary and community fund...."
