Solefield Christmas Service

Solefield finished off the Autumn Term in style with a joyous Christmas Service at the beautiful St Mary’s, Kippington. Head Chorister William H (Y8) began the service with a moving solo of Once in Royal David’s City, ably supported by the rest of the school and an enthusiastic congregation. All of the choirs performed their songs with passion while a reader from each year group told us the Christmas story and our Head Boy, Elliot B, read with great clarity and maturity. All of this is only possible due to the hard work and dedication of Miss Adams and Mr Fenning who lead and organised the service superbly – thank you!

Thank you to all those who attended and contributed to our retiring collection. We will let you know how much we have raised as soon as we know.

Pre-Prep Christmas 'Boogie Woogie'

This year our Pre-Prep play, 'Boogie Woogie Nativity' was a roaring success! With sparkling angels, and a whole animal band, Pre-Prep rocked the hall, and the audience were jiving in their seats! We were immensely proud of the boys as they worked so hard to learn their words and all their songs and they thoroughly enjoyed every moment.

Christmas Lunch

The whole school enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch last Friday, with roast turkey and all the trimmings, along with tasty vegetarian alternatives, with delicious desserts chosen by the Food Committee.

Christmas lunch was made more festive with Christmas hats and eco-friendly crackers. What a lovely way to start the festive season at Solefield, with huge thanks to Jane, Kadine and Amy for all their hard work.

Solefield Parents' Association Christmas Fair

The Christmas Spirit was well and truly alive and well at Solefield School on Monday with the Christmas Fair in full flow. The Pre-Prep had a visit from Father Christmas, and there were many amazing festive games on show. The boys were able to buy their Christmas presents from a range of gifts that Selfridges would have been proud of (not to mention all the sugar that was inhaled by the boys too).

Money raised from the event will go towards the SPA’s ‘Buy Our Bus’ campaign and we are very much looking forward to seeing the amount that was raised.

We would like to thank all the parents who gave up so much time and energy in putting on such a wonderful Fair for our boys; it really was a day that will live long in the memory.

Solefield Donates Christmas Presents

A huge thank you to all who donated a present to go under our Christmas Tree in the Old Library. We had so many wonderful donations. These gifts have been given to The Salvation Army and will be distributed out to children within the local area. Your presents will really help those who are unlikely to receive a gift at Christmas time otherwise.

Thank you again and have a wonderful Christmas.

Reading reps Visit Sevenoaks Bookshop

The Reading Reps went to Sevenoaks Bookshop to purchase new books for the library. We spent an exciting time choosing books, discussing books and then buying books!

The boys chose a whole variety of books which will be available to borrow from January 2023! The Solefield Parents' Association (SPA) very kindly donated the money for the reps to buy the books. to spend on books and each rep had a budget to buy the books.

Books are best. Solefield loves our library. Reading Reps Rock.

Year 7 & 8 Film Premiere

The term, the boys in Year 7 & 8 have been busy creating their Year 7 & 8 film. We chose the text 'Us & Them' by David Campton. The boys had a great time brainstorming filming locations and loved their time on set.

Along with the technical vision of Mr Coston, the final film created was brilliant. The boys and parents enjoyed a wonderful premiere evening of this film on Friday. They strutted down the red carpet and even posed for the paparazzi. Well done to all the boys involved in this performance!

Whole School Trip to the Pantomime

Our trip to the Stag theatre to watch Alice in Wonderland on Tuesday was a fantastic way to end our term and begin our Christmas holiday. The boys had an amazing time, although I think one boy enjoyed it more than the rest. Mr Henry was the star of the show and even came away from the theatre with some new best friends and a pair of Christmas pants!

Thank you to SPA for kindly purchasing the tickets for the boys, it really is a special Solefield Christmas tradition that everyone looks forward to each year.
