New Chair Of Base Team
Safety Committee
Steven Reed served 2 years as co-chair and 2 years as chair of the Base Team Safety Committee. Beginning March 1st, Nessa Stone will start her new role as Chair while Steven will continue to serve as an active member of the committee. Both Steven and Nessa work tirelessly to help the Facilities Division be a safer place to work, live, study and visit. Facilities Safety would like to thank Steven for his dedication and hard work over the last 4 years and congratulate Nessa on her new role.
Zone H4 Recognition
Housekeeping Zone H4 was praised for their speed and commitment to deliver a client's request. DASA asked to clean nearly 30 rooms at Avent Ferry Residence Halls so it's ready for the next guest. Despite the short notice and a sudden increased workload, Zone H4 amazed everyone by flipping all the rooms in one day!

Engaging Students In Sustainability
Matt Ball, with Waste Reduction and Recycling, provided an engaging and socially distanced tour of NC State's Compost Facility and Research Cooperative to the students of CS 430, Advanced Agroecology. Matt taught the students how he processes organic waste collected from across campus into high-quality compost, which is used in the campus landscape and at the Agroecology Farm to grow produce for the dining halls. The Compost Facility operates a closed-loop organic waste management system for the university, and supports the campus as a classroom initiative. Learn more about the Compost Facility.
Collaborating To Keep Campus Safe
Sixteen Facilities employees have volunteered to assist the contact tracing program on campus in order to keep the Pack safe. Contact Tracing is a system to slow the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19. One of Facilities volunteers, Cara Frontiero of Grounds and Building Services commented, "I am happy to have a part with Contact Tracing at NC State because the health and safety of our students and employees are a priority."
