April Is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month to increase awareness that distracted drivers are not only a danger to themselves, but everyone else on the road. Video conferencing while you are operating a vehicle is not only unsafe, it’s against the law. In accordance with the General Statutes of North Carolina, using video technology, (i.e., Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) while operating a vehicle is unlawful. In North Carolina, almost 20% of all driving accidents can be attributed to distracted driving.

Help to keep our campus safe by removing distractions while driving. If you need to participate in a video conference, be sure that you are parked in a safe location prior to joining the conference. Encourage co-workers to be responsible and eliminate all distractions while driving so everyone will safely arrive to their destinations.
To learn techniques to stay safe while driving on the road, register for the Distracted Driver Safety training. The online course is available through Reporter Training
