Electrical Safety Stand Down
In reference to a recent arc flash mishap at Bragaw Residence Hall, several Electrical Safety Stand Downs (pictured) have been scheduled. The Electrical Safety Stand Down's purpose is to raise awareness of potential electrical arc flash hazards within all campus Facilities units and to develop lessons learned when responding to unplanned power outages. This creates a safer working environment.

Accessibility Champions

A team from the Office of the University Architect was recently named a Spring 2021 Accessibility Champion by the NC State IT Accessibility Office. This award recognizes individuals who are committed to making the NC State digital environment a more inclusive and accessible place. Dave Wynne, Tom Skolnicki, Dave Josephus, Heath Huovinen, and former employee Andy Belcher were named in the recognition: "The Office of the University Architect and other Facilities units were instrumental in completing a major update to the university’s accessible campus map. It is now incorporated into the online campus map as a layer that can be toggled on or off. A huge amount of work went into updating the features of the map and verifying information. The map can now be updated more frequently as changes are made on campus."
April Is NC State Earth Month
This month-long emphasis on the environment, sustainability and how you can make the world a better place is hosted by NC State’s Sustainability Council and University Sustainability Office. Dozens of events (both in-person and virtual) are available, focusing on a wide variety of sustainability topics. In addition to events planned by the Sustainability Office and other campus partners, there are several events with Facilities Division connections, such as tours of the Compost Facility and Research Cooperative and educational workshops featuring Grounds and Building Services employees.
